Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects: therefore despise not the chastening of the Almighty:
My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:
And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks unto you as unto children, My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are rebuked of him:

You shall also consider in your heart, that, as a man chastens his son, so the LORD your God chastens you.
My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction: For whom the LORD loves he corrects; even as a father the son in whom he delights.
And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks unto you as unto children, My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are rebuked of him:
But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain:
Blessed is the man whom you chasten, O LORD, and teach him out of your law;
O LORD, correct me, but with justice; not in your anger, lest you bring me to nothing.
Every branch in me that bears not fruit he takes away: and every branch that bears fruit, he prunes it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Therefore I desire that you faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.
And have endured, and have patience, and for my name's sake have labored, and have not fainted.

And if you will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins. And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heavens as iron, and your earth as bronze: And your strength shall be spent in vain: for your land shall not yield its increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits. And if you walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins. I will also send wild animals among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number; and your highways shall be desolate. And if you will not be reformed by me by these things, but will walk contrary unto me; Then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins. And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall bring the vengeance of my covenant: and when you are gathered together within your cities, I will send the pestilence among you; and you shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy. And when I have broken the supply of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight: and you shall eat, and not be satisfied. And if you will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me; Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.

For the people turn not unto him that strikes them, neither do they seek the LORD of hosts.
In vain have I smitten your children; they received no correction: your own sword has devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.
I have smitten you with blight and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the locust devoured them: yet have you not returned unto me, says the LORD.
And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds.
Why should you be stricken any more? you will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

O LORD, are not your eyes upon the truth? you have stricken them, but they have not grieved; you have consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.
I said, Surely you will fear me, you will receive instruction; so her dwelling should not be cut off, no matter how I punished her: but they rose early, and corrupted all their deeds.

As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.

Let the righteous strike me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be against their evil.
The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself brings his mother to shame.
A fool despises his father's instruction: but he that regards reproof is prudent.
Open rebuke is better than hidden love.
A reproof enters more into a wise man than a hundred stripes into a fool.
It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools.
