If thou have anything to say, answer me. Speak, for I desire to justify thee.

For LORD has chosen Zion. He has desired it for his habitation. This is my resting place forever. Here I will dwell, for I have desired it.

But Jesus having heard it, he said to them, Those who are strong have no need of a physician, but those who fare badly. But after going, learn what this means, I desire mercy, and not sacrifice, for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners for repentance.

For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to knowledge of truth.

Many, O LORD my God, are the wonderful works which thou have done, and thy thoughts which are toward us. They cannot be set in order to thee. For the law having a shadow of the good things that are coming, not the same substance of the events, with the same sacrifices that are offered continually each year, they are never able to fully perfect those who are approaching. Otherwise would they not have ceased being offered, because of those who worship, once having been cleansed, to have no further conscience of sins? For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. Therefore when he comes into the world, he says, Sacrifice and offering thou did not desire, but thou prepared for me a body. In whole burnt offerings, and for sin thou were not pleased. Then I said, Lo, I come (in the volume of a book it is written about me) to do thy will, O God, saying above, Sacrifice and offering and whole burnt offerings and for sin thou did not desire, nor were thou pleased with things that are offered according to the law. Then he said, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He takes away the first, so that he may establish the second.


Keep thy foot when thou go to the house of God, for to draw near to hear is better than to give the sacrifice of fools. For they know not that they do evil.

But food does not present us to God, for neither if we eat are we ahead, nor if we do not eat are we behind.

But this thing I commanded them, saying, Hearken to my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people. And walk ye in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you.

And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts of it sufficient for a burnt-offering.



To what purpose does there come to me frankincense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? Your burnt-offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices pleasing to me.

Incense is an abomination to me. New moon and Sabbath, the calling of assemblies--I cannot bear iniquity and the solemn meeting. read more.
Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hates. They are a trouble to me. I am weary of bearing them.

I hate, I despise your feasts, and I will take no delight in your solemn assemblies. Yea, though ye offer me your burnt-offerings and meal-offerings, I will not accept them, nor will I regard the peace-offerings of your fat beasts. Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs, for I will not hear the melody of thy viols. read more.
