and think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham for a father; for I tell you that God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham;

If, therefore, the Son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed. I know that you are children of Abraham; but you seek to kill me because my word has no place in you. What I have seen with my Father I speak, and you also do what you have heard from your father. They answered and said to him, Our father is Abraham. Jesus said to them, If you were children of Abraham, you would have done the works of Abraham; but now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth, which I have heard from God; Abraham did not do this.
