Listen! You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and you are to name him Jesus.





When they reached the place called The Skull, they crucified him there with the criminals, one on his right and one on his left.

But Jesus was in the back of the boat, asleep on a cushion. So they woke him up and asked him, "Teacher, don't you care that we're going to die?"

Suddenly, a violent storm came up on the sea, so that the boat began to be swamped by the waves. Yet Jesus kept sleeping.


When he came closer and saw the city, he began to grieve over it:




A Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus told her, "Please give me a drink,"


So Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth. Then he placed it in his own new tomb, which he had cut out of the rock. After rolling a large stone across the door of the tomb, he left,


"He was despised and rejected by others, and a man of sorrows, intimately familiar with suffering; and like one from whom people hide their faces; and we despised him and did not value him. "Surely he has borne our sufferings and carried our sorrows; yet we considered him stricken, and struck down by God, and afflicted.


Even Herod and his soldiers treated him with contempt and made fun of him. He put a magnificent robe on Jesus and sent him back to Pilate.


Instead, one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and blood and water immediately came out.






After eight days had passed, the infant was circumcised and named Jesus, the name given him by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
