“Do not set up an Asherah of any kind of wood next to the altar you will build for the Lord your God,

They will not look to the altars they made with their hands or to the Asherahs and incense altars they made with their fingers.

For the Lord will strike Israel and the people will shake as a reed shakes in water. He will uproot Israel from this good soil that He gave to their ancestors. He will scatter them beyond the Euphrates because they made their Asherah poles, provoking the Lord.
But both rebels and sinners will be destroyed, and those who abandon the Lord will perish. Indeed, they will be ashamed of the sacred trees you desired, and you will be embarrassed because of the gardens you have chosen.
