Afflictions » Tempered with mercy
But he, being merciful, forgave iniquity, and destroyed not. Yea, many a time he turned his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.

The lofty looks of man shall be brought low, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.
but LORD of hosts is exalted in justice, and God the Holy One is sanctified in righteousness.
LORD is exalted, for he dwells on high. He has filled Zion with justice and righteousness.

And there shall be upon every lofty mountain, and upon every high hill, brooks [and] streams of waters, in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall. Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that LORD binds up the hurt of his people, and heals the stroke of their wound.

For evil-doers shall be cut off, but those who wait for LORD, they shall inherit the land.
