And when the people heard these evil tidings, they mourned: and no man did put on him his ornaments.

In that day the Lord will take away the beauty of their anklets, and the cauls, and the crescents;


And thou, when thou art made desolate, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with scarlet, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou enlargest thine eyes with paint, in vain dost thou make thyself fair; thy lovers despise thee, they seek thy life.

And I decked thee with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon thy hands, and a chain on thy neck.

And furthermore ye have sent for men that come from far, unto whom a messenger was sent, and, lo, they came; for whom thou didst wash thyself, paint thine eyes, and deck thyself with ornaments,





Lift up thine eyes round about, and behold: all these gather themselves together, and come to thee. As I live, saith Jehovah, thou shalt surely clothe thee with them all as with an ornament, and gird thyself with them, like a bride.



So are the paths of all that forget God; And the hope of the godless man shall perish:

The wicked shall be turned back unto Sheol, Even all the nations that forget God.

Now consider this, ye that forget God, Lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver:

For thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength; therefore thou plantest pleasant plants, and settest it with strange slips.

For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and builded palaces; and Judah hath multiplied fortified cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the castles thereof.



A voice is heard upon the bare heights, the weeping and the supplications of the children of Israel; because they have perverted their way, they have forgotten Jehovah their God.
