Jehoahaz » Also called shallum » Prophecies concerning
Do not weep for the dead; do not mourn for him. Weep bitterly for the one who has gone away, for he will never return again and see his native land. For this is what the Lord says concerning Shallum son of Josiah, king of Judah, who succeeded Josiah his father as king: "He has left this place-he will never return here again, but he will die in the place where they deported him, never seeing this land again."

Therefore Yahweh, the God of Hosts, the Lord, says: There will be wailing in all the public squares; they will cry out in anguish in all the streets. The farmer will be called on to mourn, and professional mournersto wail. There will be wailing in all the vineyards, for I will pass among you. The Lord has spoken.
