Whoever corrects a mocker is asking for insult; whoever reproves a wicked person receives abuse.
O Lord, do not let me be humiliated, for I call out to you! May evil men be humiliated! May they go wailing to the grave!
Those who trust in idols will turn back and be utterly humiliated, those who say to metal images, 'You are our gods.'"
From earliest times our worship of that shameful god, Baal, has taken away all that our ancestors worked for. It has taken away our flocks and our herds, and even our sons and daughters. This will happen because the people of Israel and Judah have repeatedly done what displeases me from their earliest history until now and because they have repeatedly made me angry by the things they have done. I, the Lord, affirm it!
