In the sweat of thy face thou shall eat bread, till thou return to the ground, for out of it thou were taken. For thou are dust, and to dust thou shall return.

And LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And if for these things ye will not yet hearken to me, then I will chastise you seven times more for your sins. And I will break the pride of your power. And I will make your sky as iron, and your earth as brass, and your strength shall be spent in vain, for your land shall not yield its increase, nor shall the trees of the land yield their fruit. And if ye walk contrary to me, and will not hearken to me, I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins.

Forty years long I was grieved with [that] generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways. Therefore I swore in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.
Thus says LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Ye have seen all the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, and upon all the cities of Judah. And, behold, this day they are a desolation. And no man dwells therein because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, [and] to serve other gods, that they knew not, neither they, nor ye, nor your fathers.
But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense to other gods. Therefore my wrath and my anger was poured forth, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, and they are wasted and desolate, as it is this day.
