So I weep, as Jazer weeps, for the vines of Sibmah. O Heshbon, O Elealeh, I drench you with tears! The shouts of joy over your ripened fruit and over your harvests have been stilled. Let everyone be on guard against his neighbor. Do not trust any brother because every brother deals craftily (cunningly), and every neighbor goes about as a slanderer. Everyone deceives his neighbor and does not speak the truth. They have taught their tongue to speak lies. They wear themselves out committing sin. You live in the middle of deceit. Through deceit they refuse to know me, says Jehovah. Thus says Jehovah of Hosts: Behold, I will refine them and assay them. What else can I do, because of the daughter of my people?
