After the Devil had finished tempting Jesus in every possible way, he left him until another time.

Jesus replied, "This voice is for your benefit, not for mine. Now is the time for the judgment of this world to begin. Now the ruler of this world will be thrown out.

Jesus answered him, "If anyone loves me, he will keep my word. Then my Father will love him, and we will go to him and make our home within him. The one who doesn't love me doesn't keep my words. The words that you're hearing me say are not mine, but come from the Father who sent me. "I have told you this while I am still with you. read more.
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything that I have told you. I'm leaving you at peace. I'm giving you my own peace. I'm not giving it to you as the world gives. So don't let your hearts be troubled, and don't be afraid. You have heard me tell you, "I'm going away, but I'm coming back to you.' If you loved me, you would rejoice that I'm going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am. I've told you this now, before I leave, so that when I do leave, you will believe. I won't talk with you much longer, because the ruler of this world is coming. He has no power over me.

Now we ask you, brothers, regarding the coming of our Lord Jesus, the Messiah, and our gathering together to him, not to be so quickly upset or alarmed when someone claims that we said, either by some spirit, conversation, or letter that the Day of the Lord has already come. Do not let anyone deceive you in any way, for it will not come unless the rebellion takes place first and the man of sin, who is destined for destruction, is revealed. read more.
He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god and object of worship. As a result, he seats himself in the sanctuary of God and himself declares that he is God. Don't you remember that I repeatedly told you about these things when I was still with you? You know what it is that is now holding him back, so that he will be revealed when his time comes. For the secret of this lawlessness is already at work, but only until the person now holding it back gets out of the way. Then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will destroy with the breath of his mouth, rendering him powerless by the manifestation of his coming. The coming of the lawless one will be accompanied by the power of Satan. He will use every kind of power, including miraculous signs, lying wonders, and every type of evil to deceive those who are dying, those who refused to love the truth that would save them. For this reason, God will send them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie. Then all who have not believed the truth but have taken pleasure in unrighteousness will be condemned.

Little children, it is the last hour. Just as you heard that an antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have appeared. This is how we know it is the last hour. They left us, but they were not part of us, for if they had been part of us, they would have stayed with us. Their leaving made it clear that none of them was really part of us.

Dear friends, stop believing every spirit. Instead, test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize God's Spirit: Every spirit who acknowledges that Jesus the Messiah has become human and remains so is from God. But every spirit who does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist. You have heard that he is coming, and now he is already in the world.

So if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are dying. In their case, the god of this world has blinded the minds of those who do not believe to keep them from seeing the light of the glorious gospel of the Messiah, who is the image of God.

However, I'm telling you the truth. It's for your advantage that I'm going away, because if I don't go away, the Helper won't come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment of sin, because they don't believe in me; read more.
of righteousness, because I'm going to the Father and you will no longer see me; and of judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

However, when we are among mature people, we do speak a message of wisdom, but not the wisdom of this world or of the rulers of this world, who are passing off the scene. Instead, we speak about God's wisdom in a hidden secret, which God destined before the world began for our glory. None of the rulers of this world understood it, because if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

Let them give thanks to the LORD for his gracious love and for his awesome deeds on behalf of mankind. Let them exalt him in the assembly of the people and praise him in the counsel of the elders. He turns rivers into a desert, springs of water into dry ground, read more.
and a fruitful land into a salty waste, due to the wickedness of its inhabitants. He turns a desert into a pool of water, dry land into springs of water. There he settled the hungry, where they built a city to live in. They sowed fields and planted vineyards that yielded a productive harvest. Then he blessed them, and they became numerous; he multiplied their cattle. But they became few in number, and humiliated by continued oppression, agony, and sorrow. Having poured contempt on their nobles, causing them to err aimlessly in the way.

Jesus replied, "This voice is for your benefit, not for mine. Now is the time for the judgment of this world to begin. Now the ruler of this world will be thrown out. As for me, if I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw all people to myself."

Then they asked him, "Who are you?" Jesus told them, "What have I been telling you all along? I have much to say about you and to condemn you for. But the one who sent me is truthful, and what I've heard from him I declare to the world." They didn't realize that he was talking to them about the Father. read more.

Then I said, "Here I am! I have come! In the scroll of the book it is written about me. I delight to do your will, my God. Your Law is part of my inner being." In the great congregation I have proclaimed the righteous good news. Behold, I did not seal my lips, LORD, as you know.

After Jesus had said this, he looked up to heaven and said, "Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, so that the Son may glorify you. "You are the ones who have always stood by me in my trials.

At once the Spirit drove him into the wilderness. He was in the wilderness for 40 days being tempted by Satan. He was among wild animals, and angels were ministering to him.

However, before the youth knows enough to reject what's wrong and choose what's right, the land whose two kings you dread will be devastated."

After this, Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the Devil. After fasting for 40 days and 40 nights, he finally became hungry. Then the tempter came. "Since you are the Son of God," he said, "tell these stones to become loaves of bread." read more.
But he answered, "It is written, "One must not live on bread alone, but on every word coming out of the mouth of God.'" Then the Devil took him to the Holy City and had him stand on the highest point of the Temple. He told Jesus, "Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written, "God will put his angels in charge of you,' and, "With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.'" Jesus responded to him, "It is also written, "You must not tempt the Lord your God.'" Once more the Devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, along with their splendor. He told Jesus, "I will give you all these things if you will bow down and worship me!" Then Jesus told him, "Go away, Satan! Because it is written, "You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.'" So the Devil left him, and angels came and began ministering to him.

Then Jesus, filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan. He was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, where he was being tempted by the Devil for 40 days. During that time he ate nothing at all, and when they were over he became hungry. The Devil told him, "Since you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become a loaf of bread." read more.
Jesus answered him, "It is written, "One must not live on bread alone, but on every word of God.'" The Devil also took him to a high place and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in an instant. He told Jesus, "I will give you all this authority, along with their glory, because it has been given to me, and I give it to anyone I please. So if you will worship me, all this will be yours." But Jesus answered him, "It is written, "You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.'" The Devil also took him into Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the Temple. He told Jesus, "Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here, because it is written, "God will put his angels in charge of you to watch over you carefully. With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.'" Jesus answered him, "It has been said, "You must not tempt the Lord your God.'" I glorified you on earth by completing the task you gave me to do. "So now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world existed. I have made your name known to these men whom you gave me from the world. They were yours, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they realize that everything you gave me comes from you, because the words that you gave me I passed on to them. They have received them and know for sure that I came from you. They have believed that you sent me. "I am asking on their behalf. I am not asking on behalf of the world, but on behalf of those you gave me, because they are yours. All that is mine is yours, and what is yours is mine, and I have been glorified through them. I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by your Name, the Name that you gave me, so that they may be one, as we are one. While I was with them, I protected them by the authority that you gave me. I guarded them, and not one of them became lost except the one who was destined for destruction, so that the Scripture might be fulfilled. "And now I am coming to you, and I say these things in the world so that they may have my joy made complete in themselves. I have given them your word, and the world has hated them, because they do not belong to the world, just as I don't belong to the world. I'm not asking you to take them out of the world but to protect them from the evil one. They don't belong to the world, just as I don't belong to the world. "Sanctify them by the truth. Your word is truth. Just as you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. It is for their sakes that I sanctify myself, so that they, too, may be sanctified by the truth. I ask not only on behalf of these men, but also on behalf of those who will believe in me through their message, so that they may all be one. Just as you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be one in us, so that the world may believe that you sent me. "I have given them the glory that you gave me, so that they may be one, just as we are one. I am in them, and you are in me. May they be completely one, so that the world may know that you sent me and that you have loved them as you loved me. Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am and to see my glory, which you gave me because you loved me before the creation of the world. "Righteous Father, the world has never known you. Yet I have known you, and these men have known that you sent me. I made your name known to them, and will continue to make it known, so that the love you have for me may be in them and I myself may be in them."

So again Jesus said, "Truly, I tell all of you emphatically, I'm the gate for the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and bandits, but the sheep didn't listen to them. I'm the gate. If anyone enters through me, he will be saved. He'll come in and go out and find pasture. read more.
The thief comes only to steal, slaughter, and destroy. I've come that they may have life, and have it abundantly. "I'm the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired worker, who isn't the shepherd and doesn't own the sheep, sees the wolf coming, deserts the sheep, and runs away. So the wolf snatches them and scatters them, because he's a hired worker, and the sheep don't matter to him. I'm the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father. And I lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that don't belong to this fold. I must lead these also, and they'll listen to my voice. So there will be one flock and one shepherd. This is why the Father loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it back again.

"Abide in me, and I will abide in you. Just as the branch cannot produce fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. The one who abides in me while I abide in him produces much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing. Unless a person abides in me, he is thrown away like a pruned branch and dries up. People gather such branches, throw them into a fire, and they are burned up. "If you abide in me and my words abide in you, you can ask for anything you want, and you'll receive it. This is how my Father is glorified, when you produce a lot of fruit and so prove to be my disciples. Just as the Father has loved me, so I have loved you. So abide in my love.
