For if they do these things when the wood is green, what will happen when it is dry?" Two others, criminals, were also led with him to be put to death. And when they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left. Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." And they divided his garments and cast lots. The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him wine vinegar, and saying, "If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself." There was also an inscription written over him: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. One of the criminals who were hanged there hurled insults at him, saying, "Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!" And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong." Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." And Jesus said to him, "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise." It was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour, for the sun was darkened; and the curtain of the temple was torn in two. And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." And having said this, he breathed his last. Now when the centurion saw what had happened, he praised God, and said, "Certainly this was a righteous man!" When all the multitudes who had gathered to witness this sight saw what had taken place, they beat their breasts, and returned home. But all his acquaintances, and the women who had followed him from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things. Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and righteous man,

Then he handed him over to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus. And he, bearing his cross, went out to a place called the Place of the Skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha. There they crucified him, and two others with him, one on either side, and Jesus in the center. read more.
Pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross. It read: JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS. Many of the Jews read this title, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin. The chief priests of the Jews then said to Pilate, "Do not write, 'The King of the Jews,' but, 'This man said, I am King of the Jews.'" Pilate answered, "What I have written, I have written." When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took his garments, and made four parts, one for each soldier, and also his tunic. Now the tunic was without seam, woven in one piece from top to bottom. So they said to one another, "Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be." This happened that the Scripture might be fulfilled which says: "They divided my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots." This is what the soldiers did. By the cross of Jesus stood his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing by, he said to his mother, "Woman, behold your son!" Then he said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother!" And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home. After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, "I thirst." Now a vessel full of wine vinegar was sitting there; so they filled a sponge with the vinegar, put it on hyssop, and put it to his mouth. So when Jesus had received the vinegar, he said, "It is finished!" And he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests to betray him to them. And when they heard it they were glad, and promised to give him money. So he sought an opportunity to betray him.

While he was still speaking, Judas came, one of the twelve, and with him a great crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the elders of the people.

Then they seized him and led him away, bringing him into the high priest's house. Peter followed at a distance.

Then the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council, and said, "What are we to do? For this man performs many signs.

Then one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said, "What are you willing to give me if I deliver him to you?" And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver.

Very early in the morning, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council; and they bound Jesus, led him away, and delivered him to Pilate.

Then the chief priests and the elders of the people assembled in the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, and they plotted to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him. But they said, "Not during the feast, lest there be a riot among the people."

And suddenly, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear.

And immediately, while he was still speaking, Judas came, one of the twelve, and with him a crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. Now the betrayer had given them a signal, saying, "The one I shall kiss is the man; seize him and lead him away under guard." And when he came, he went up to him at once, and said, "Rabbi!" and he kissed him. read more.
And they laid hands on him and seized him. And one of those who stood by drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

And they led Jesus to the high priest; and all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes were assembled. But Peter followed him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest. And he sat with the guards and warmed himself at the fire. Now the chief priests and the whole council sought testimony against Jesus to put him to death, but they found none. read more.
For many bore false witness against him, but their testimonies did not agree. Then some stood up and bore false witness against him, saying, "We heard him say, 'I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another not made with hands.'" Yet even then their testimony did not agree. And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, "Have you no answer to make? What is it that these men testify against you?" But he was silent and made no answer. Again the high priest asked him, "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?" And Jesus said, "I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven." The high priest tore his clothes and said, "Why do we need any more witnesses? You have heard the blasphemy. What do you think?" And they all condemned him as worthy of death. Then some began to spit on him, and to blindfold him, and to beat him, and to say to him, "Prophesy!" And the guards received him with slaps in the face. Now as Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came.

And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to kill him, for they feared the people. Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, who was numbered of the twelve. So he went his way and conferred with the chief priests and officers, how he might betray him to them. read more.
And they were glad, and agreed to give him money. So he consented, and sought an opportunity to betray him to them in the absence of the multitude.

As soon as it was day, the council of the elders of the people came together, both chief priests and scribes; and they led him away to their council chamber, saying, "If you are the Christ, tell us." But he said to them, "If I tell you, you will not believe. And if I ask you, you will not answer. read more.
But from now on the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God." They all said, "Are you the Son of God, then?" He said to them, "You said what I am." And they said, "What further testimony do we need? We have heard it ourselves from his own lips."

Then the whole body of them arose and led him to Pilate. And they began to accuse him, saying, "We found this man perverting our nation and forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ, a king."

But they cried out, "Away with him! Away with him! Crucify him!" Pilate said to them, "Shall I crucify your King?" The chief priests answered, "We have no King but Caesar." Then he handed him over to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus.
