For no one doeth anything in secret, and yet himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou doest these things, manifest thyself to the world. For even his brothers did not believe in him. Jesus saith to them, My time is not yet come; but your time is always ready. The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that its works are evil. Go ye up to the feast; I go not up to this feast; for my time is not yet fully come. Having said these things, he remained in Galilee. But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not openly, but as it were in secret. The Jews therefore sought him at the feast, and said, Where is that man? And there was much debating among the multitude concerning him. Some said, He is a good man; others said, Nay, but he deceiveth the multitude. No one, however, spoke openly of him, for fear of the Jews. But when it was now the midst of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple and taught.

And it came to pass, when the time was near for his being received up, that he himself steadily set his face to go to Jerusalem. And he sent messengers before him; and they went and entered a city of the Samaritans, to make ready for him. And as they were traveling on the way, one said to him, I will follow thee wherever thou goest. And Jesus said to him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have lodgingplaces; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. And he said to another, Follow me. But he said, Suffer me first to go and bury my father. And he said to him, Let the dead bury their own dead; but go thou and carry the tidings of the kingdom of God. And another also said, I will follow thee, Lord; but first let me bid farewell to those who are in my house. And Jesus said to him, No one who looketh back after putting his hand to the plough is fit for the kingdom of God.
