In this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit which confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God: and every spirit which does not confess Jesus is not of God: and this is the spirit of antichrist, which you have heard that he is coming; and now he is already in the world.
Nevertheless indeed many of the rulers also believed on Him; but they were not confessing Him on account of the Pharisees, in order that they might not be put out of the synagogues: for they loved the glory of the people more than the glory of God.
Not every one saying to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of the heavens; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in the heavens. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name, and in thy name cast out demons, and in thy name done many mighty works? Then I will confess unto them that I never knew you: depart from me, ye who work iniquity.
Therefore every one who shall confess me before the people, I will also confess him before my Father, who is in the heavens. But whosoever may deny me before the people, I will also deny him before my Father who is in the heavens.
John beareth witness concerning Him, and cried out saying; This is He of whom I spoke, He that cometh after me has been before me: because He was my Creator. And his parents said these things, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had already stipulated, that if any one should confess Him to be Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue. Therefore his parents said that, He has majority, ask him. Then they asked the man the second time who was blind, and said to him, Give God the glory: we know that this man is a sinner. read more.
Then he responded, If He is a sinner, I know not: one thing I do know, that being blind I now see. Then they said to him, What did He to you? how did He open your eyes? They railed on him, and said, You are His disciple; but we are the disciples of Moses: we know that God spoke to Moses: but we do not know this One, whence He is. The man responded and said to them; For in this it is wonderful, that you do not know whence He is, He truly opened my eyes. We know that God hears not sinners: but if any one may be a worshiper of God, and do His will, He hears him. It was never heard of from the beginning that any one opened the eyes of a man who was born blind: if He were not with God, He would not be able to do anything. Jesus said to him, Indeed you have seen Him, and the One speaking with you is He. And He said, I believe, Lord: and he worshiped Him.

No one, having lighted a lamp, putteth it in a cellar, nor under a bushel, but on a candlestick, in order that those coming in may see the light. The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye may be clear, truly thy whole body is lighted; but when it may be had, truly thy body is dark. See then that the light which is in thee is not darkness. read more.
If then thy whole body is lighted, having no part dark, all will be lighted, as when a lamp may light thee with its brightness. And while He was speaking, a Pharisee asked Him, that He would dine with him: and having come in, He sat up at the table. And the Pharisee seeing, was astonished because He was not first baptized before dinner. And the Lord said to him, Now you Pharisees purify the outside of the cup and the plate, but the interior is full of extortion and wickedness. Ye fools, did not the One having made the outside also make the inside? Therefore give alms of your substance; and behold all things are pure unto you. But woe unto you, Pharisees! because you tithe mint and rue and every herb, and you pass by judgment and the love of God: it behooveth to do these things, and not to omit those. Woe unto you, Pharisees! because you love the front seat in the synagogues, and salutations in the forums. Woe unto you! because you are like tombs unseen, and men walking over them do not know it. And a certain one of the theologians responding says to Him, Teacher, speaking these things yon indeed insult us. And He said, Woe unto you, theologians! because you lay burdens on the people difficult to be borne, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers. Woe unto you! because you build the sepulchers of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. Therefore you are witnesses and you consent unto the works of your fathers: because they slew them, and you build. Therefore the wisdom of God said, I will send unto them prophets and apostles; and some of them they will slay and persecute. Woe unto you, theologians! because you have taken away the key of knowledge: you did not come in, and you prohibited those who were coming in. And He having come out from thence, the scribes and Pharisees began vehemently to press on Him, and mouth after Him concerning many things; laying in wait, to catch something from His mouth.
