You are the light of the world: a city that lies upon a mountain can not be hid: neither do men light a lamp and place it under the measure, but on the lamp-stand, and it gives light to all that are in the house. read more.
In this way let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient, by the wisdom of the just, in order to make ready for the Lord a prepared people.

For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise men according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble call you; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world, that he may bring to shame the wise; and the weak things of the world has God chosen, that he may put to shame the strong; and the ignoble things of the world, and the things that are despised, has God chosen, and the things that are not, that he might bring to nought things that are; read more.

And many people of the cities round about came to Jerusalem, bringing the sick, and those who were troubled by evil spirits, all of whom were cured.

And after these things, the Lord appointed seventy others, also, and sent them, two and two, before his face, into every city and place to which he himself was about to go.

And these signs shall attend those who believe. In my name they shall cast out demons; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and, if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

While Peter was speaking these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all that heard the word. And the believers that were of the circumcision, as many as had come with Peter, were astonished, because on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Spirit: for they heard them speaking with tongues, and magnifying God. Then Peter answered:

And John answered him and said: Teacher, we saw one casting out demons in thy name, and he does not follow us: and we forbade him, because he does not follow us.

Afterward he appeared to the eleven as they reclined at table; and he reproached them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen him after he had risen. And he said to them: Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believes and is immersed, shall be saved; he that believes not, shall be condemned. read more.

And the seventy returned with joy, and said: Lord, even the demons are subject to us through thy name. And he said to them: I saw Satan, like lightning from heaven, falling. Behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and authority over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you. read more.
However, rejoice not in this, that the spirits are subject to you; but rejoice that your names are written in heaven. In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said: I thank thee, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to babes; even so, Father, for so it seemed good in thy sight. All things are delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows who the Son is but the Father, and who the Father is but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him. And he turned to his disciples, and said privately: Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I say to you, that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, and did not see; and to hear what you hear, and did not hear.

But you have come to Mount Zion, and the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels; to the general assembly and church of the first-born, who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the just made perfect,

In him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness comprehends it not. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came as a witness, to testify of the Light, that all through him might believe. He was not the Light; but he came to testify of the Light. He was the true Light, which, coming into the world, gives light to every man. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came to his own country, and his own people received him not. But as many as received him, to them he gave the privilege of be coming the children of God, even to those who believe on his name; who were begotten, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Carry no purse, nor bag, nor sandals; and salute no one on the road. Whatever house you enter, first say, Peace be to this house. And if a son of peace be there, your peace shall rest on him; but, if not, it shall return upon you. And in that house remain, eating and drinking what they have to give; for the laborer is worthy of his hire; go not from house to house. And whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat what is set before you; and heal those in it who are sick, and say to them: The kingdom of God has come near to you. But whatever city you enter, and they receive you not, go out into the streets of it, and say: Even the dust of your city, which cleaves to us, we do wipe off against you; yet know this, that the kingdom of God has come near to you. I say to you, It shall be more tolerable, in that day, for Sodom, than for that city. Alas for thee, Chorazin! alas for thee, Bethsaida! for, if the mighty works which have been done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But for Tyre and Sidon it shall be more tolerable in the judgment, than for you. And thou, Capernaum, who hast been exalted to heaven, shalt be brought down to hades. He that hears you, hears me; and he that rejects you, rejects me; and he that rejects me, rejects him that sent me.
