Accountability » Accountability connected with stewardship
I tell you, on Judgment Day people will give an account for every thoughtless word they have uttered,
"That is why the kingdom from heaven may be compared to a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.
"That is why I am sending you prophets, wise men, and scribes. Some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will whip in your synagogues and persecute from town to town.
"After a long time, the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them.
But God told him, "You fool! This very night your life will be demanded back from you. Now who will get the things you've accumulated?'
But the servant who did things that deserved a beating without knowing it will receive a light beating. Much will be required from everyone to whom much has been given. But even more will be demanded from the one to whom much has been entrusted."
"After he was appointed king, the prince came back. He ordered the servants to whom he had given the money to be called so he could find out what they had earned by investing.
Consequently, each of us will give an account of himself to God.
They insult you now because they are surprised that you are no longer joining them in the same excesses of wild living. They will give an account to the one who is ready to judge the living and the dead.

For when you were slaves of sin, you were "free" as far as righteousness was concerned. What benefit did you get from doing those things you are now ashamed of? For those things resulted in death. But now that you have been freed from sin and have become God's slaves, the benefit you reap is sanctification, and the result is eternal life.
