And when He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath-day, there was a woman that had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and utterly unable to lift herself upright. And when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him, and said to her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. read more.
And He laid his hands upon her; and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. But the ruler of the synagogue, being provoked that Jesus had wrought a cure on the sabbath-day, said to the people, There are six days in which ye ought to work; on these therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath-day. The Lord therefore answered him and said, Thou hypocrite, does not any of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall and lead him away to watering? And might not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath-day?

Blessed are ye when men shall revile and persecute you, and utter all manner of reproach against you falsly, for my sake: rejoice and be exceeding glad; for great will be your reward in heaven: for so they persecuted the prophets, that were before you. Ye are the salt of the earth, but if the salt be grown insipid, wherewith shall it be seasoned? it is no longer fit for any thing, but to be thrown out of doors, and trodden under foot. read more.
Ye are the light of the world: a city, that is situated on a hill, cannot be hid. Nor do men light a candle, to put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick: and then it giveth light to all in the house. So let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your father, who is in heaven.

And when Jesus had finished these discourses, He departed from Galilee, and came into the borders of Judea, beyond Jordan: and great multitudes followed Him, and there He healed them.

And He arose from thence and came into the coasts of Judea, through the country beyond Jordan: and the people resorted to Him again; and, as He was wont, He taught them again.

And might not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath-day? Upon his saying this, all his adversaries were ashamed: but the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by Him. Then said He, To what is the kingdom of God like, and to what shall I compare it? It is like a grain of mustard-seed, which a man took and sowed in his garden, and it grew, and became a great tree, and the birds of the air lodged in it's boughs. And again He said, To what shall I compare the kingdom of God? It is like leaven, which a woman took and put into three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened. And he went through the cities and villages teaching, as He journeyed towards Jerusalem. And one said to Him, Lord, are there but few that shall be saved? But He said unto them, Strive to enter in at the strait gate; for I tell you, many will desire to enter in, and shall not be able. When the master of the house shall have risen up and shut the door, and ye begin to stand without and knock at the door saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and He shall answer and say to you, I know you not, whence ye are: then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drank in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets, But He will say, I tell you, I know you not, whence ye are; depart from me all ye workers of iniquity: and there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves shut out. Yea they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God. And behold, there are some last who shall be first, and there are first that shall be last. At the same time came some of the pharisees, and said to Him, Go out and depart hence, for Herod intends to kill thee. And He said to them, Go, tell that fox, Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and to-morrow; and in a little while I am to be perfected: but I must procede to-day and to-morrow and the following; for it cannot be supposed that a prophet should be cut off but in Jerusalem. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that killest the prophets and stonest them that are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and ye would not? Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and I assure you ye shall not see me again till the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord.

they asked Him, if it were lawful to heal on the sabbath-days? that they might accuse Him. But He said unto them, What man of you shall have one of his sheep fall into a pit on the sabbath-day, and will not lay hold of it and lift it out? And of how much more worth is a man than a sheep? And the man went away, and told the Jews, that it was Jesus who had healed him. And for this did the Jews persecute Jesus, and endeavoured to put Him to death; because He had done these things on the sabbath-day. But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh without intermission, and so do I. read more.
For this therefore the Jews sought the more to kill Him, because He had not only broken the sabbath, but had also called God his own Father, making Himself equal with God.

behold, there was a certain man before Him that had a dropsy. And Jesus spake to the expounders of the law and to the pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath-day? but they made no answer. And He took him and healed him, and sent him away: read more.
and said unto them, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fall into a pit, and will not immediately draw him out even on the sabbath-day?

Jesus answered and said unto them, I performed one miracle on the sabbath, and ye are all amazed at it. Now Moses gave you the law of circumcision, (not that it is originally from Moses, but from the patriarchs,) and ye circumcise even on the sabbath: if then a man receive circumcision on the sabbath-day, that the law of Moses may not be broken; are ye angry with me, because I made a man perfectly well on the sabbath-day? read more.

And he went away and came into their synagogue: and there being a man there who had a withered hand, they asked Him, if it were lawful to heal on the sabbath-days? that they might accuse Him. And a certain man who had been lame from his birth was carried along; whom they laid every day at the gate of the temple, which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of those that were going into the temple:

The infirm man answered Him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is moved, to put me into the pool; but while I am coming, another goes down before me.
