I will raise up a prophet like you from among their relatives, and I will place my words in his mouth so that he may expound everything that I have commanded to them.

The crowds kept saying, "This is the prophet Jesus, the man from Nazareth in Galilee."

Although they wanted to arrest him, they were afraid of the crowds, who considered Jesus to be a prophet.

Others were saying, "He is Elijah." Still others were saying, "He is a prophet like one of the other prophets."

Fear gripped everyone, and they began to praise God. "A great prophet has appeared among us," they said, and "God has helped his people."

But I must be on my way today, tomorrow, and the next day, because it's not possible for a prophet to be killed outside of Jerusalem.'



When the people saw the sign that he had done, they kept saying, "Truly this is the Prophet who was to come into the world!"

When they heard these words, some in the crowd were saying, "This really is the Prophet,"

So they asked the formerly blind man again, "What do you say about him, since it was your eyes he healed?" He said, "He is a prophet."



There must never be found among you anyone who sacrifices his son or daughter in fire, practices divination, interprets omens, practices sorcery,

Now the Pharisee who had invited Jesus saw this and told himself, "If this man were a prophet, he would have known who is touching him and what kind of woman she is. She's a sinner!"

He came to Jesus at night and told him, "Rabbi, we know that you have come from God as a teacher, because no one can perform these signs that you are doing unless God is with him."

"The LORD your God will raise up a prophet like me for you from among your relatives. You must listen to him,

It was this Moses who told the Israelis, "God will raise up a prophet for you from among your own brothers, just as he did me.'

"The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers. You must listen to everything he tells you. Any person who will not listen to that prophet will be utterly destroyed from among the people.'

how will we escape if we neglect a salvation as great as this? It was first proclaimed by the Lord himself, and then it was confirmed to us by those who heard him,

In fact, Moses said, "The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers. You must listen to everything he tells you. Any person who will not listen to that prophet will be utterly destroyed from among the people.'


Soon afterwards, Jesus went to a city called Nain. His disciples and a large crowd were going along with him. As he approached the entrance to the city, a man who had died was being carried out. He was his mother's only son, and she was a widow. A large crowd from the city was with her. When the Lord saw her, he felt compassion for her. He told her, "You can stop crying." read more.
Then he went up and touched the bier, and the men who were carrying it stopped. He said, "Young man, I say to you, get up!" The man who had been dead sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him back to his mother. Fear gripped everyone, and they began to praise God. "A great prophet has appeared among us," they said, and "God has helped his people."
