And it came to pass the day after, that he was going to a city called Nain; and many of his disciples were with him, and a great multitude. And as he came near the gate of the city, lo! there was carried out dead an only son of his mother, and she was a widow; and a great multitude from the city was with her. And he came up, and touched the bier; and they who bore it stood still; and he said, Young man, I say to thee, Rise. And he that was dead sat up and began to speak; and he gave him to his mother. And fear seized on all, and they gave glory to God, saying, A great prophet hath risen up among us; and, God hath visited his people. And this report about him went forth in all Judaea, and in all the neighboring country.
