Thematic Bible: Man of sorrows

Thematic Bible

When he had said these things, Jesus was greatly distressed in spirit, and testified, "I tell you the solemn truth, one of you will betray me."

He was despised and rejected by people, one who experienced pain and was acquainted with illness; people hid their faces from him; he was despised, and we considered him insignificant.

Then he looked up to heaven and said with a sigh, "Ephphatha" (that is, "Be opened").

Sighing deeply in his spirit he said, "Why does this generation look for a sign? I tell you the truth, no sign will be given to this generation."

When Jesus saw her weeping, and the people who had come with her weeping, he was intensely moved in spirit and greatly distressed.
