it is sufficient sure for the disciple that he be treated as his master, and the servant as his lord. If then they call the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more his domestics?

And when the pharisees saw it they said to Him, See, thy disciples are doing what is not lawful for them to do on the sabbath. But He replied, Have ye not read what David did, when he, and his attendants, were hungry? how he went into the house of God, and did eat the shew-bread, which it was not lawful for him to eat, nor those that were with him; but for the priests only? or have ye not read in the law, read more.
what profane sort of work the priests do in the temple on the sabbath-days, and yet are blameless? But I tell you, that a greater than the temple is here: and if ye had known what that scripture means, "I desire mercy rather than sacrifice," ye would not have condemned the guiltless. For the Son of man is lord even of the sabbath. And he went away and came into their synagogue: and there being a man there who had a withered hand, they asked Him, if it were lawful to heal on the sabbath-days? that they might accuse Him. But He said unto them, What man of you shall have one of his sheep fall into a pit on the sabbath-day, and will not lay hold of it and lift it out? And of how much more worth is a man than a sheep? Sure then it is lawful to do good on the sabbath-days. Then saith He to the man, Stretch out thine hand: and he stretched it out, and it was made sound like the other. But the pharisees went out of the synagogue and took counsel together against Him, how they might destroy Him:

Now the chief priests and elders, and the whole council sought false-witness against Jesus, that they might put Him to death: but found none. And tho' many false witnesses came, they found none to their purpose. But at last came two false witnesses and said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.

And they led Jesus away to the high priest, with whom were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes. And Peter followed Him at a distance, even into the palace of the high priest: and sat down among the servants, and warmed himself at the fire. Now the chief priests and all the council sought for evidence against Jesus, to put Him to death, and found none: read more.
for many bare false witness against Him, and the evidences did not agree. At last there rose up some and bare false witness against Him, saying, We heard Him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands: but neither was their evidence consistent. Then the high priest stood up in the midst and asked Jesus saying, Answerest thou nothing? what do these men witness against thee? but he held his peace, and made him no answer. So the high priest asked Him again, and saith to Him, Art thou the Messiah the Son of the blessed God? And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. Then the high priest rent his clothes and said, What farther need have we of witnesses? ye have heard the blasphemy; what think ye? and they all condemned Him as worthy of death. And they spit upon Him, and blind-folded Him, and then buffeted Him and said to Him, prophesy who it was: and the officers struck him with their rods.

And they began to accuse Him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbiding to give tribute to Cesar; saying, that He himself is Christ the king.

They answered him, If He were not a malefactor, we should not have delivered Him to thee.

And if I cast out demons by the power of Beelzebub, by whom do your own people cast them out? wherefore they shall be your judges:

how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say, that I cast out demons by Beelzebub. And if I by Beelzebub cast out demons, by whom do your own people cast them out? wherefore they shall be your judges.

And many of them said, He is a demoniac, and is mad; why do ye hear Him?

The people answered and said, Thou art possessed by a demon: who seeketh to kill thee?

And the scribes that came down from Jerusalem said, He is in league with Beelzebub, and casts out demons by the help of the prince of demons. So He called them to Him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan? If a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand: read more.
and if a family be divided against itself, that family cannot stand: and if Satan oppose himself and be divided, he cannot stand, but his kingdom is at an end. No one can enter into the house of a strong man, and plunder his goods; unless he first bind the strong man, and then he may pillage his house. Verily I tell you, that all sins shall be forgiven to the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith they may blaspheme: but whosoever blasphemeth against the holy Ghost never hath forgiveness, but is liable to eternal damnation: for they said, He hath an impure spirit.

The Jews therefore answered and said unto Him. Do we not rightly say, that thou art a Samaritan, and art possessed by a demon?

And his fame spread abroad into all Syria; and they brought unto Him all their sick, that laboured under various diseases and torments; even those who were possessed with devils, and lunatics, and paralytics; and he healed them:

And when it was evening they brought to him many demoniacs: and he cast out the evil spirits with a word, and healed all that were ill: that it might be fulfilled,

And demons also came out from many, crying out, Thou art the Messiah the Son of God. And He rebuked them, and suffered them not to say, that they knew Him to be the Christ.

Then was brought to Him a demoniac, who was blind and dumb; and he healed Him, so that the blind and dumb man both spake and saw: and all the multitudes were amazed, and said, "Is not this the Son of David?" which the pharisees hearing, said, "He only casts out demons by the help of Beelzebub the prince of the devils." read more.
But Jesus, who well knew their thoughts, said to them, Every kingdom divided against itself becomes desolate; and no city, or family, divided against itself can stand: if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then shall his kingdom stand? And if I cast out demons by the power of Beelzebub, by whom do your own people cast them out? wherefore they shall be your judges: but if I by the Spirit of God cast out devils, then certainly the kingdom of God is come unto you. Or, how can any one enter into the house of a strong man, and take away his goods, unless he first overpower the strong man? and then indeed he may strip his house. He that is not with me, is against me; and he that gathereth not with me, scattereth. Wherefore, I tell you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven to men; but the blasphemy against the holy Spirit shall not be forgiven them: and if any one speak against the Son of man, it may be forgiven him: but if any one speak against the holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this life, nor in that to come. O race of vipers, how can ye speak good things, who are yourselves so wicked? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart produceth good things; and a wicked man out of the wicked treasure uttereth wicked things: but I tell you, that of every idle word, which men shall speak, they shall give an account in the day of judgement; for by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

But if I cast out demons by the power of God, you may be sure the kingdom of God is come unto you: for when a strong man well-armed defends his palace, his substance is secure: but when a stronger than he cometh upon him and conquers him, he taketh away his armour, wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils. but when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonders that He wrought, and the children crying out in the temple, Hosanna to the Son of David, they were vexed to the heart, and said to Him, Dost thou hear what these say?

But there were some of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God?
