King Herod heard of this, because Jesus’ name had become well known. Some said, “John the Baptist has been raised from the dead, and that’s why supernatural powers are at work in him.”

When John heard in prison what the Messiah was doing, he sent a message by his disciples

Then He proceeded to denounce the towns where most of His miracles were done, because they did not repent:

He went to His hometown and began to teach them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished and said, “How did this wisdom and these miracles come to Him?

When the Sabbath came, He began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard Him were astonished. “Where did this man get these things?” they said. “What is this wisdom given to Him, and how are these miracles performed by His hands?

Now He came near the path down the Mount of Olives, and the whole crowd of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the miracles they had seen:

“But I have a greater testimony than John’s because of the works that the Father has given Me to accomplish. These very works I am doing testify about Me that the Father has sent Me.

“I did tell you and you don’t believe,” Jesus answered them. “The works that I do in My Father’s name testify about Me.



When Jesus had finished these parables, He left there. He went to His hometown and began to teach them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished and said, "How did this wisdom and these miracles come to Him? Isn't this the carpenter's son? Isn't His mother called Mary, and His brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas? read more.
And His sisters, aren't they all with us? So where does He get all these things?" And they were offended by Him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his household." And He did not do many miracles there because of their unbelief.

He went away from there and came to His hometown, and His disciples followed Him. When the Sabbath came, He began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard Him were astonished. "Where did this man get these things?" they said. "What is this wisdom given to Him, and how are these miracles performed by His hands? Isn't this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and the brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And aren't His sisters here with us?" So they were offended by Him. read more.
Then Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown, among his relatives, and in his household." So He was not able to do any miracles there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He was amazed at their unbelief. Now He was going around the villages in a circuit, teaching.

When Jesus had finished this sermon, the crowds were astonished at His teaching,


When the crowds saw this, they were awestruck and gave glory to God who had given such authority to men.

If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses won’t be broken, are you angry at Me because I made a man entirely well on the Sabbath?



A man is worth far more than a sheep, so it is lawful to do what is good on the Sabbath.”

As usual, Paul went to the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days reasoned with them from the Scriptures,

Instantly the man got well, picked up his mat, and started to walk.

Now that day was the Sabbath,

The day that Jesus made the mud and opened his eyes was a Sabbath.


They continued their journey from Perga and reached Antioch in Pisidia. On the Sabbath day they went into the synagogue and sat down.

He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. As usual, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stood up to read.

Then He went down to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, and was teaching them on the Sabbath.

When the Sabbath came, He began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard Him were astonished. “Where did this man get these things?” they said. “What is this wisdom given to Him, and how are these miracles performed by His hands?
