Then a demon-possessed man who was blind and unable to talk was brought to him. Jesus healed him so that the man could speak and see.
As the men were going out, a man who couldn't talk because he was demon-possessed was brought to him. As soon as the demon had been driven out, the man began to speak. The crowds were amazed and said, "Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel!"
Large crowds came to him, bringing with them the lame, the blind, the crippled, those unable to talk, and many others. They placed them at his feet, and he healed them. As a result, the crowd was amazed to see those who were unable to talk speaking, the crippled healed, the lame walking, and the blind seeing. So they praised the God of Israel.
Amazed beyond measure, they kept on saying, "He does everything well! He even makes deaf people hear and mute people talk!"
A man in the crowd answered him, "Teacher, I brought my son to you. He has a spirit that won't let him talk.
When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, "You spirit that won't let him talk or hear I command you to come out of him and never enter him again!" The spirit screamed, shook the child violently, and came out. The boy was like a corpse, and many said that he was dead.

Jesus left there and went along the Sea of Galilee. Then he went up on a hillside and sat down. Large crowds came to him, bringing with them the lame, the blind, the crippled, those unable to talk, and many others. They placed them at his feet, and he healed them. Then he looked up to heaven, sighed, and told him, "Ephphatha," that is, "Be opened!" The man's hearing and speech were restored at once, and he began to talk normally. Jesus ordered the people not to tell anyone, but the more he kept ordering them, the more they kept spreading the news. Amazed beyond measure, they kept on saying, "He does everything well!
