For many walk, of whom I told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ;
and he that doth not take his cross, and follow me, is not worthy of me.
And he said to all, If any one chooseth to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
Whoever doth not bear his own cross and follow me, cannot be my disciple.
For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel; not with wisdom of speech, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect. For the preaching of the cross is to those who are perishing, foolishness, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God.
But as for me, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why do I still suffer persecution? Then hath the cross ceased to be a stumblingblock.
