And a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came from the cloud, This is my beloved Son; hear him.

And looking round immediately they no longer saw any one but Jesus alone with them.

And coming down from the mountain he charged them to tell no man what they had seen, till the Son of man should have risen from the dead.

And they kept the word, inquiring with themselves what the rising from the dead meant.

And they asked him, saying, Why do the scribes say that Elijah must first come?

And he said to them, Elijah comes first, and restores all things; as also it is written of the Son of man, That he shall suffer many things, and be set at naught;

but I tell you, that Elijah has come, and they have done to him what they wished, as it was written of him.

And coming to the disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes disputing with them.

And immediately all the multitude seeing him, were highly pleased, and ran forward and saluted him.

And he asked, What were you disputing about with them?

And one of the multitude answered him, Teacher, I have brought my son to you, having a dumb spirit;
