Ye chose not me, but I chose you, and I have set you, that ye might retire and bear fruit, and your fruit remain: that whatever ye ask the Father in my name, he might give you. These things I command you, that ye love one another. If the world hate you, know that it has hated me the first of you. If ye were of the world, the world had loved its own: and because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

These spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour has come; honour thy Son, that thy Son honour thee: As thou gavest him the power of all flesh, that every one which thou hast given him, he should give to them eternal life. For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. Not as Cain was of the evil one, and slew his brother. And for what slew he him? Because his works were evil, and those of his brother just. Be not amazed, my brethren, if the world hate you.
