The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and testing him desired that he would show them a sign from heaven.
And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, testing him.
And others, testing him, sought of him a sign from heaven.
Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Teacher, we would see a sign from you.
And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of your coming, and of the end of the world?
Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign show you unto us, seeing that you do these things?
Then said Jesus unto him, Except you see signs and wonders, you will not believe.
They said therefore unto him, What sign do you show then, that we may see, and believe you? what do you work?
For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Teacher, we would see a sign from you. Then he said, I will return into my house from where I came out; and when he is come, he finds it empty, swept, and garnished. Then he goes, and takes with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

And if I by Beelzebub cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges. But if I with the finger of God cast out demons, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you. When a strong man armed keeps his palace, his goods are in peace: But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he takes from him all his armor in which he trusted, and divides his spoils. He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathers not with me scatters. And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonah the prophet. For as Jonah was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation. Take heed therefore that the light which is in you be not darkness. If your whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a lamp does give you light.

For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.
Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled?
A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah. And he left them, and departed.
And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, testing him. And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and said, Why does this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.
