As to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our final muster before Him, we beg you, brothers, not to let your minds be easily unsettled or even be excited, whether by some message by the Spirit or by some saying or letter that is claimed as coming from me, saying that the day of the Lord is already here. Do not let anybody at all deceive you about this, because that cannot take place until the great revolt occurs and the representative of lawlessness is uncovered, the one who is doomed to destruction, read more.
the one who keeps up his opposition and so far exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, that he actually takes his seat in the sanctuary of God, proclaiming himself to be God. Do you not remember that while I was with you I used to tell you this? So now you know the power that is holding him back, that he is to be unveiled at His own appointed time. For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work, but only until he who is holding it back has been gotten out of the way. Then the representative of lawlessness will be uncovered, and the Lord Jesus will destroy him with the breath of His mouth and put a stop to his operations by His appearance and coming; that is, the representative of lawlessness, whose coming is in accordance with the working of Satan, with his plenitude of power and pretended signs and wonders, and with a completely wicked deception for men who are on the way to destruction, because they refused to love the truth so as to be saved. This is why God sends them a misleading influence till they actually believe what is false, so that all who have refused to believe the truth but have chosen unrighteousness instead might be condemned.

Yes, you will be betrayed even by parents and brothers and kinsmen and friends, and they will put some of you to death, and you will be continuously hated by everyone, because you bear my name. And yet not a single hair on your head will perish. By your endurance you will win your souls. "When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, then understand that her devastation is near. Then let those in Judea begin to fly to the mountains, and those within the city begin to get out of it, for these are the days of vengeance when all that is written in the Scriptures will be fulfilled. Alas for the women who are pregnant and those who have nursing babies in those days! For there will be great misery in the land and wrath on this people. They will fall by the edge of the sword and will be carried off as captives among all the nations, and Jerusalem will be trampled under the feet of the heathen, until the times of the heathen come to full measure. And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on earth despair of nations in bewilderment at the roaring of the sea and its waves, men fainting with fear and apprehension of the things that are to come upon the world, for the powers of the sky will be shaken. Now the Pharisees came out and began a discussion with Him, and to test Him asked Him to show them a spectacular sign from heaven.

The day of the Lord will come like a thief; on that day the heavens will pass away with a roar, the heavenly bodies will be destroyed by being burned up, and the earth with all its works will melt away. If all these things are to be dissolved in this way, what men you ought to be! For just as in the days before the Flood people went on eating and drinking, marrying and being married, until the very day Noah entered the ark, and knew nothing about it until the Flood came and swept them all away, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken, one will be left. Two women will be grinding with the handmill; one will be taken, one will be left. So keep on watching, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. But be sure of this, that if the master of the house had known in exactly what part of the night the thief would come, he would have been on guard and would not have let his house be broken into. So you, too, must continue to be ready, for at an hour you are not expecting Him the Son of Man will come.

Alas for the women who are expectant mothers and those who have nursing babies, in those days! And pray that it may not be in winter, for there will be such misery at that time as has never been since the beginning of God's creation, and never will be again. For false Christs and false prophets will announce themselves, and they will do signs and wonders to mislead, if possible, even God's chosen people. So you must be on your guard. I have warned you about it all beforehand. "But in those days, after that misery, the sun will turn dark, the moon will not shed its light, the stars will be falling from the sky, and the powers of the sky will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds in overwhelming power and splendor. Then He will send out His angels, and gather His chosen people from the four points of the compass, from one end of the sky to the other. "Now learn what the story of the fig tree means. Then they will see the Son of Man coming on a cloud in overwhelming power and splendor. When these things begin to take place, look up and lift your heads, for your deliverance is drawing near." If you remain in union with me and my words remain in you, you may ask whatever you please and you shall have it. By your continuously bearing abundant fruit and in this way proving yourselves to be real disciples of mine, my Father is glorified. I have loved you just as the Father has loved me. No one can show greater love than this, the giving of his life for his friends. You are my friends, if you keep on doing what I command you to do. I no longer call you slaves, because the slave does not know what his master is doing; I now call you friends, because I have told you everything that I have learned from my Father. You have not chosen me; I have chosen you, and appointed you to go and bear fruit, that your fruit may remain too, so that the Father may grant you, as bearers of my name, whatever you ask Him for. I am not praying for the world now, but only for those whom you have given me, because they are yours -- really, all that is mine is yours, and all that is yours is mine -- and I have been glorified through them. And now I am no longer to be in the world, but they are to stay on in the world, while I am going to be with you. Holy Father, keep them by the power which you have given me, so that they may be one just as we are. As long as I was with them, I kept them by your power which you gave me, and I protected them, and not one of them was lost, except the one who is now doomed to be lost, so that the Scripture might be fulfilled. And now I am going to be with you, and I am saying these things while still in the world, that the joy which I experience may be fully experienced in their own souls. I have given them your message, and the world has hated them, because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to it.

it is so because the message that you have heard from the beginning is this: We should love one another. We must not be like Cain who belonged to the evil one and butchered his brother. For it seems to me that God has put us apostles on exhibition at the disgraced end of the procession, as they do with men who are doomed to die in the arena. You must remain in my love. If you continue to keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commands and remain in His love. "I have told you these things, that the joy which I have had may remain in you and that your joy may be complete. This is my command to you, to keep on loving one another as I have loved you. "What I command you to do is, to keep on loving one another. If the world continues to hate you, remember that it has first hated me. If you belonged to the world, the world would love what is its own. But it is because you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, that the world hates you. Remember what I once told you: No slave is greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will persecute you too. If they have observed my teaching, they will observe yours too.

"I have told you these things to keep you from falling over stumbling blocks. Men will turn you out of their synagogues. Yes, indeed, the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think that he is rendering a religious service to God. They will do this, because they have never come to know God nor me. read more.
But I have told you these things that when the time does come, you may remember that I told you. I did not tell you these things at the start, because I was with you.

And Jesus left the temple, and was going away, when His disciples came up to Him, to show Him the temple buildings. But He answered them, "Do you see all these things? I solemnly say to you, there shall not be left here one stone upon another that shall not be torn down." While He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came up to Him by themselves, and said, "Tell us when this is to take place, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age." read more.
Jesus answered, "Look out that no one misleads you about it, for many will come bearing the name of the Messiah, and saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will mislead many people. You are going to hear of wars and rumors of wars; take care not to be scared out of your wits. They have to come, but that is not the end yet. For nation will go to war with nation, and kingdom with kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in many places.

As He was leaving the temple, one of His disciples said to Him, "Look, Teacher! What stupendous stones, what beautiful buildings!" Jesus said to him, "Are you looking in wonder at these great buildings? Not one stone will be left here upon another that will not be torn down." Alas for the women who are pregnant and those who have nursing babies in those days! Sky and earth will pass away but my words will never pass away. But about that day or hour not a single one knows -- not even the angels in heaven or the Son; not a single one but the Father alone. For just as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. "Who then is the faithful and thoughtful slave, whom his master put in charge of his household, to deal out to the members of it their supplies at the proper time? Blessed is that slave if, when his master comes back, he finds him so doing. I solemnly say to you, he will put him in charge of all his property. But if the slave is bad and says to himself, 'My master is going to be gone a long time,' and begins to beat his fellow-slaves, and keeps on eating and drinking with those who get drunk, the master of that slave will come on the very day he is not expecting him, and will cut him in two, and give him his share with the hypocrites, where they will weep and grind their teeth."

He came to Jesus one night and said to Him, "Teacher, we know that you have come from God, for no one can perform the wonder-works that you are doing, unless God is with him."

While He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came up to Him by themselves, and said, "Tell us when this is to take place, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age."

"It is a wicked and immoral age that is hankering for a spectacular sign, so no sign will be given it but the sign of Jonah." Then He left them and went away.

Now the Pharisees came out and began a discussion with Him, and to test Him asked Him to show them a spectacular sign from heaven. But He sighed in spirit and said, "Why do the people of these times ask for a spectacular sign? I solemnly say, no sign at all will be given them."

"What I command you to do is, to keep on loving one another. If the world continues to hate you, remember that it has first hated me. If you belonged to the world, the world would love what is its own. But it is because you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, that the world hates you.

When Jesus had said all these things, He lifted His eyes to heaven and said: "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that He may glorify you, just as you have given Him authority over all mankind to give eternal life to all whom you have given Him. Now eternal life means knowing you as the only true God and knowing Jesus your messenger as Christ. read more.
I have glorified you down here upon the earth by completing the work which you have given me to do. So now, Father, glorify me up there in your presence just as you did before the world existed. "I have made your very self known to the men whom you have given me out of the world. At first they were yours, but now you have given them to me, and they have obeyed your message. Now they have come to know that everything you have given me really comes from you; for I have given them the teachings that you gave me, and they have accepted them, and they have come to know in reality that I did come from you, and so they are convinced that you did send me. I am praying for them.

And why did he butcher him? Because his own actions were wicked and his brother's upright. You must not be surprised, brothers, if the world hates you.

So it will be at the close of the age; the angels will go out and separate the wicked from the upright,

for, if that had been the case, He would have had to suffer over and over again, ever since the creation of the world. But, as it is, once at the close of the ages He has appeared, to put away sin by His sacrifice.

While He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came up to Him by themselves, and said, "Tell us when this is to take place, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age."
