And he said to them, "{Follow me} and I will make you fishers of people." And immediately they left their nets [and] followed him.


On the next day he wanted to depart for Galilee, and he found Philip. And Jesus said to him, "Follow me!"

Now [as he] was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew, throwing a casting net into the sea (for they were fishermen). And he said to them, "{Follow me} and I will make you fishers of people." And immediately they left their nets [and] followed him. read more.
And going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James the [son] of Zebedee and his brother John, in the boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets, and he called them. And immediately they left the boat and their father [and] followed him.

And [as] Jesus was going away from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax booth and said to him, "Follow me!" And he stood up [and] followed him. And it happened [as] he {was dining} in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners were coming [and] {dining} with Jesus and his disciples.

Now these are the names of the twelve apostles: first Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, James the [son] of Zebedee, and John his brother, Philip, and Bartholomew, Thomas, and Matthew the tax collector, James the [son] of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot--the one who also betrayed him.

And he went up on the mountain and summoned [those] whom he wanted, and they came to him. And he appointed twelve, so that they would be with him and so that he could send them out to preach and to have authority to expel demons. read more.
And he appointed the twelve. And to Simon he gave the name Peter, and James the [son] of Zebedee and John the brother of James (and he gave to them the name Boanerges, that is, "Sons of Thunder"), and Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the [son] of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

And when day came, he summoned his disciples and chose from them twelve, whom he also named apostles: Simon (whom he also named Peter) and his brother Andrew, and James, and John, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the [son] of Alphaeus, and Simon who was called the Zealot, read more.
and Judas [the son] of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.

And after these [things], he went out and saw a tax collector {named} Levi sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, "Follow me!"

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

So the disciples went and did just as Jesus directed them,

And the disciples did as Jesus directed them, and they prepared the Passover.

And Simon answered [and] said, "Master, [although we] worked hard through the whole night, we caught nothing. But at your word I will let down the nets."

"Everyone who comes to me and listens to my words and does them--I will show you what he is like:

Jesus said to them, "Fill the water jars with water." And they filled them to the brim.

So that one, when she heard [it], got up quickly and went to him.


And he said to them, "Throw the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find [some]." So they threw [it], and were no longer able to haul it in from the large number of the fish.

Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life. And we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God."

And [as he] was passing by along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew, Simon's brother, casting [a net] into the sea (for they were fishermen). And Jesus said to them, "{Follow} me and I will make you become fishers of people." And immediately they left their nets [and] followed him. read more.
And going on a little [farther], he saw James the [son] of Zebedee and his brother John, and they [were] in the boat mending the nets. And immediately he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men [and] went away after him.

And when he stopped speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch." And Simon answered [and] said, "Master, [although we] worked hard through the whole night, we caught nothing. But at your word I will let down the nets."

This one first found his own brother Simon and said to him, "We have found the Messiah!" (which is translated "Christ").

And Jesus said to them, "{Follow} me and I will make you become fishers of people." And immediately they left their nets [and] followed him. read more.
And going on a little [farther], he saw James the [son] of Zebedee and his brother John, and they [were] in the boat mending the nets. And immediately he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men [and] went away after him.

And going on a little [farther], he saw James the [son] of Zebedee and his brother John, and they [were] in the boat mending the nets.

Simon Peter and Thomas (who was called Didymus) and Nathanael from Cana in Galilee and the [sons] of Zebedee and two others of his disciples were together. Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing!" They said to him, "We also are coming with you." They went out and got into the boat, and during that night they caught nothing.


Now [as he] was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew, throwing a casting net into the sea (for they were fishermen). And he said to them, "{Follow me} and I will make you fishers of people." And immediately they left their nets [and] followed him. read more.

Now it happened that while the crowd was pressing around him and hearing the word of God, he was standing beside the lake of Gennesaret, and he saw two boats there beside the lake, but the fishermen had gotten out of them [and] were washing their nets. And he got into one of the boats, which was Simon's, [and] asked him to put out from the land a little. And he sat down [and] began to teach the crowds from the boat. read more.
And when he stopped speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch." And Simon answered [and] said, "Master, [although we] worked hard through the whole night, we caught nothing. But at your word I will let down the nets." And [when they] did this, they caught a very large number of fish, and their nets began to tear. And they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come [and] help them, and they came and filled both the boats so that they began to sink. And [when he] saw [it], Simon Peter fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, "Depart from me, Lord, because I am {a sinful man}!" For amazement had seized him and all those [who were] with him at the catch of fish that they had caught, and so also [were] James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were business partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, "Do not be afraid! From now on you will be catching people!" And [after they] brought [their] boats to the land, they left everything [and] followed him.

"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet that was thrown into the sea and gathered [fish] of every kind,

And he said to them, "Throw the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find [some]." So they threw [it], and were no longer able to haul it in from the large number of the fish. Then that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" So Simon Peter, [when he] heard that it was the Lord, tied around himself his outer garment (for he was naked) and threw himself into the sea. But the other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net of fish, because they were not far from the land, but about two hundred cubits away. read more.
So when they got out on the land, they saw a charcoal fire laid [there], and a fish lying on [it], and bread. Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish that you have just now caught." So Simon Peter got into [the boat] and hauled the net to the land, full of large fish--one hundred fifty-three--and [although there] were so many, the net was not torn.
