And the spies saw a man come forth out of the city, and they said unto him, Show us, we pray you, the entrance into the city, and we will show you mercy. And when he showed them the entrance into the city, they struck the city with the edge of the sword; but they let go the man and all his family.


Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate: For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.

Judges and officers shall you make in all your gates, which the LORD your God gives you, throughout your tribes: and they shall judge the people with just judgment.

Then went I up in the night by the valley, and viewed the wall, and turned back, and entered by the gate of the valley, and so returned. And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he tore his clothes; and he passed by upon the wall, and the people looked, and, behold, he had sackcloth beneath upon his flesh.

And as the king of Israel was passing by upon the wall, there cried a woman unto him, saying, Help, my lord, O king.


And the fortress of the high fort of your walls shall he bring down, lay low, and bring to the ground, even to the dust.

And upon every high tower, and upon every fortified wall,


And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Ben-hadad.

But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour its palaces:


And if so be that the king's anger arises, and he says unto you, Why approached you so near unto the city when you did fight? knew you not that they would shoot from the wall? Who struck Abimelech the son of Jerubbesheth? did not a woman cast a piece of a millstone upon him from the wall, that he died in Thebez? why went you near the wall? then say, Your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.


And they put his armor in the house of Ashtaroth: and they fastened his body to the wall of Bethshan.

But the rest fled to Aphek, into the city; and there a wall fell upon twenty and seven thousand of the men that were left. And Ben-hadad fled, and came into the city, into an inner chamber.


Then said Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebna, and Joah, unto Rab-shakeh, Speak, I pray you, to your servants in the Aramaic language; for we understand it: and talk not with us in the Jews' language in the ears of the people that are on the wall.


And you have numbered the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses have you broken down to fortify the wall.


Then he took his eldest son that should have reigned in his stead, and offered him for a burnt offering upon the wall. And there came great wrath against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to their own land.


Then she let them down by a rope through the window: for her house was upon the town wall, and she dwelt upon the wall.


They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march each one on his way, and they shall not break their ranks: Neither shall one jostle another; they shall walk each one in his path: and when they lunge between the swords, they shall not be wounded. They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief.
