Then the disciples of John came to him, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but thy disciples do not fast?
Now when John had heard in the prison the works of the Christ, he sent two of his disciples,
And his disciples came and took up the body and buried it and went and told Jesus.
And the disciples of John and of the Pharisees did fast and therefore came and said unto him, Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not?
Then they said unto him, Why do the disciples of John fast often and make prayers and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees, but thine eat and drink?
Then there arose a question between the disciples of John and the Jews about purifying.

And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John the Baptist's head in a platter. And the king was sorry; nevertheless because of the oath and of those who sat with him at the table, he commanded it to be given her. And he sent and beheaded John in the prison. And his head was brought in a platter and given to the damsel, and she brought it to her mother. And his disciples came and took up the body and buried it and went and told Jesus.

And Jesus, after he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water; and, behold, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting upon him;
and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee is my delight.
And John gave testimony, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. And I knew him not; but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending and abiding on him, the same is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit. And I have seen and have given testimony that this is the Son of God.
And as soon as he was come out of the water, John saw the heavens opened and the Spirit like a dove descending and resting upon him;
