I was also upright before him, and have kept myself from my iniquity. Therefore the LORD has recompensed me according to my righteousness; according to my cleanness in his eyesight. With the merciful you will show yourself merciful, and with the upright man you will show yourself upright. With the pure you will show yourself pure; and with the devious you will show yourself shrewd.

He frustrates the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their plans. He takes the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the cunning is quickly ended. They meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope in the noonday as in the night.
