For a harlot is a deep ditch, and a strange woman is a narrow pit.

They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down; they have dug a pit before me, they have fallen into it. Selah.

Whoever causes the righteous man to go astray in an evil way, he himself shall fall into his own pit; but the upright shall inherit good.

For a harlot is a deep ditch, and a strange woman is a narrow pit.

He who digs a pit shall fall into it; and whoever breaks a hedge, a snake shall bite him.

He dug a pit and bored it, and has fallen into the ditch which he made. His mischief shall return on his own head, and his violence shall come on his own crown.

Do not let the flood of waters overflow me, nor let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut its mouth on me.

The proud have dug pits for me, which are not according to Your Law.

Whoever digs a pit shall fall into it; and he who rolls a stone, it will turn back to him.

He who flees from the terror shall fall into the pit; and he who goes up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare. For I will bring on it, even on Moab, the year of their judgment, says Jehovah.

and I find more bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands like bands. Whoever pleases God shall escape from her, but the sinner shall be taken by her.

They will deliver you from the strange woman, the stranger who flatters with her words, who forsakes the guide of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God. For her house bows down to death, and her paths to the dead. read more.
All who go in to her do not return, nor do they take hold of the paths of life,

My son, listen to my wisdom; bow your ear to my understanding; in order to keep discretion, that your lips may keep knowledge. For the lips of a strange woman drip honey, and her palate is smoother than oil; read more.
but afterward she is as bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell, lest you should meditate on the path of life, her tracks are movable; you cannot know them.

Say to wisdom, You are my sister; and call understanding your kinsman, so that they may keep you from the strange woman, from the stranger who flatters with her words. For at the window of my house I looked through my lattice, read more.
and I saw among the simple ones, among the youths, a young man with no understanding, passing through the street near her corner. And he went the way to her house, in the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night. And, behold, there a woman met him, with the dress of a harlot and a guarded heart. She is loud and stubborn; her feet do not stay in her house; now she is outside, now in the streets, and lies in wait at every corner. And she caught him and kissed him, and with a hard face she said to him, I have peace offerings with me; today I have paid my vows. so I came out to meet you, earnestly to seek your face, and I have found you. I have decked my bed with coverings, with striped cloths of Egyptian linen. I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning; let us delight ourselves with caresses. For my husband is not at home, he has gone on a long journey; he has taken a bag of silver with him and will come home at the day of the full moon. With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him. He goes after her immediately, like an ox goes to the slaughter, or like a fool to the correction of the stocks; until a dart strikes through his liver; as a bird hastens to the snare and does not know that it is for his soul. And now listen to me, sons, and attend to the words of my mouth. Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways, do not go astray in her paths. For she has cast down many wounded; yea, many strong men have been slain by her. Her house is the way to hell, going down to the rooms of death.

For a harlot is a deep ditch, and a strange woman is a narrow pit. She also lies in wait as for prey, and increases the treacherous among men.
