He who says to the wicked, “You are righteous,”
Peoples will curse him, nations will abhor him;

He who says to the wicked, “You are righteous,”
Peoples will curse him, nations will abhor him;

And you, O desolate one, what will you do?
Although you dress in scarlet,
Although you decorate yourself with ornaments of gold,
Although you enlarge your eyes with paint,
In vain you make yourself beautiful.
Your lovers despise you;
They seek your life.

A quick-tempered man acts foolishly,
And a man of evil devices is hated.

There is no relief for your breakdown,
Your wound is incurable.
All who hear about you
Will clap their hands over you,
For on whom has not your evil passed continually?

A man will be praised according to his insight,
But one of perverse mind will be despised.

“Men will clap their hands at him
And will hiss him from his place.

The righteous will see and fear,
And will laugh at him, saying,

“Then they will go forth and look
On the corpses of the men
Who have transgressed against Me.
For their worm will not die
And their fire will not be quenched;
And they will be an abhorrence to all mankind.”

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness;
Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!

He who says to the wicked, "You are righteous," Peoples will curse him, nations will abhor him; But to those who rebuke the wicked will be delight, And a good blessing will come upon them.

You have wearied the Lord with your words. Yet you say, “How have we wearied Him?” In that you say, “Everyone who does evil is good in the sight of the Lord, and He delights in them,” or, “Where is the God of justice?”

He who says to the wicked, “You are righteous,”
Peoples will curse him, nations will abhor him;

Woe to those who are heroes in drinking wine And valiant men in mixing strong drink, Who justify the wicked for a bribe, And take away the rights of the ones who are in the right!

He who says to the wicked, “You are righteous,”
Peoples will curse him, nations will abhor him;

Those who forsake the law praise the wicked,
But those who keep the law strive with them.

Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!

Because you disheartened the righteous with falsehood when I did not cause him grief, but have encouraged the wicked not to turn from his wicked way and preserve his life,

He who says to the wicked, "You are righteous," Peoples will curse him, nations will abhor him; But to those who rebuke the wicked will be delight, And a good blessing will come upon them.

He who corrects a scoffer gets dishonor for himself,
And he who reproves a wicked man gets insults for himself.
