It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, nor for rulers [to say], Where is strong drink? Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the justice [due] to any who is afflicted. Give strong drink to him who is ready to perish, and wine to the bitter in soul. read more.

But speak thou the things that are fitting for the sound doctrine. Aged men are to be without wine, noble, serious minded, sound in faith, in love, in perseverance. Aged women likewise be reverent in behavior, not slanderous, not enslaved to much wine, teachers of what is good, read more.
