It is a trustworthy saying: if any one aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. read more.
He must manage his own household well, keeping his children under control with all dignity (If a man does not know how to manage his own household, how can he take care of God's church?). He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall into the same condemnation as the devil. He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. Deacons likewise must be men of dignity, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, and not fond of sordid gain; they must hold the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. They must also first be tested; and then if they are beyond reproach, let them serve as deacons. The women must likewise be dignified, not malicious gossips, but temperate, faithful in all things.

But as for you, teach what befits sound doctrine. The older men are to be temperate, serious, sensible, sound in faith, in love, and in endurance. The older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not to be slanderers or slaves to much wine, but they are to teach what is good, read more.
so they can train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored. Likewise urge the young men to be sensible. Show yourself in all respects an example of good deeds, and in your teaching show integrity, seriousness, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us. Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to be well-pleasing, not to talk back to them, and not to steal, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in everything they will adorn the doctrine of God our Savior. For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live sober, upright, and godly lives in this present age,
so they can train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.
