Who is a God like to thee, who pardons iniquity, and passes over the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in loving kindness. He will again have compassion upon us. He will tread our iniquities under foot, and thou will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. Thou will perform the truth to Jacob, [and] the loving kindness to Abraham, which thou have sworn to our fathers from the days of old.

Yet thou have not called upon me, O Jacob, but thou have been weary of me, O Israel. Thou have not brought me from thy sheep for burnt-offerings, nor have thou honored me with thy sacrifices. I have not burdened thee with offerings, nor wearied thee with frankincense. Thou have bought me no sweet cane with money, nor have thou filled me with the fat of thy sacrifices. But thou have burdened me with thy sins. Thou have wearied me with thine iniquities. I, even I, am he who blots out thy transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember thy sins. Put me in remembrance. Let us plead together. Set thou forth [thy case] that thou may be justified.
