But He, full of pity, forgave their iniquity, and did not destroy them; yea, many times He turned His anger away, and did not stir up all His wrath.

for though He causes grief, yet He will have pity according to the multitude of His kindnesses.

Therefore I will look to Jehovah; I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me! For Jehovah your God is a merciful God; He will not forsake you, nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which He swore to them.

But because Jehovah loved you, and because He would keep the oath which He had sworn to your fathers, Jehovah has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you out of the house of slaves, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Therefore, know that Jehovah your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy with them that love Him and keep His commandments, to a thousand generations.

And Jehovah repented as to the evil which He spoke of doing to His people.

Who knows? He may repent, and God may have pity and turn away from the glow of His anger, so that we do not perish.
