The arrogant and godless have put together a lie against me, but I will keep Your precepts with my whole heart. Their hearts are as fat as grease [their minds are dull and brutal], but I delight in Your law.
Haughty and arrogant eyes and a proud heart,
The lamp of the wicked [their self-centered pride], is sin [in the eyes of God].

Better is a little with righteousness
Than great income [gained] with injustice.
And favor is better than silver and gold.
And the day of one’s death better than the day of one’s birth.
Better is a little with the [reverent, worshipful] fear of the Lord
Than great treasure and trouble with it.
Better is the little of the righteous [who seek the will of God]
Than the abundance (riches) of many wicked (godless).
Better is the poor who walks in his integrity
Than he who is crooked and two-faced though he is rich.
The [reverent] fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the ordinances of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even than much fine gold; they are sweeter also than honey and drippings from the honeycomb.

I have counsel and sound knowledge, I have understanding, I have might and power. By me kings reign and rulers decree justice. By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges and governors of the earth. I love those who love me, and those who seek me early and diligently shall find me. Riches and honor are with me, enduring wealth and righteousness (uprightness in every area and relation, and right standing with God). My fruit is better than gold, yes, than refined gold, and my increase than choice silver.
