If Jehovah was not on our side when men rose up against us:

Then they would have swallowed us up quickly, when their wrath was kindled against us.

Then the waters would have overwhelmed us, yes the stream would have gone over us.

Then the proud waters would flow over us.

Blessed is Jehovah, who has not given us as a prey to their teeth.

We escaped as a bird out of the trap of fowlers (bird catchers). The trap is broken, and we have escaped.
