I was a reproach among all my foes, but especially among my neighbors, and a fear to my friends; those who saw me outside fled from me. I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind; I am like a broken vessel.
Even a man, my friend, in whom I trusted, who ate of my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.
You have taken my friends away from me; You have made me a hateful thing to them. I am shut up, and I cannot go out.
You have taken lover and friend far from me, and those who know me into darkness.

I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind; I am like a broken vessel.
For the living know that they shall die; but the dead do not know anything, nor do they have any more a reward; for their memory is forgotten.
