Psalm 72:1

([Prayers of David]) O God, give the king your justice. Give your righteousness to the royal son.

Psalm 72:2

He will judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice.

Psalm 72:3

The mountains shall bring prosperity to the people. The hills bring the fruit of righteousness.

Psalm 72:4

He will judge the poor of the people. He will save the children of the needy, and will break the oppressor in pieces.

Psalm 72:5

They will fear you as long as the sun and moon endures, throughout all generations.

Psalm 72:6

He will come down like rain on the mown grass, like showers that water the earth.

Psalm 72:7

In his day the righteous will flourish. There will be abundance of peace, until the moon is no more.

Psalm 72:8

He will have dominion from sea to sea, from the Euphrates River to the ends of the earth.

Psalm 72:9

Those who dwell in the wilderness will bow before him. His enemies shall lick the dust.

Psalm 72:10

The kings of Tarshish and of the isles will bring tribute (presents). The kings of Sheba and Seba will offer gifts.

Psalm 72:11

Yes, all kings will bow down before him. All nations will serve him.

Psalm 72:12

When he cries he will deliver the needy and the poor who have no helper.

Psalm 72:13

He will have pity on the poor and needy. He will save the needy.

Psalm 72:14

He will redeem (rescue) them from oppression and violence. Their blood will be precious in his sight.

Psalm 72:15

He will live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba. Men shall pray for him continually. They shall praise him all day long.

Psalm 72:16

There shall be abundance of grain throughout the land. Its fruit sways like Lebanon. Let it flourish, thriving like the grass of the field.

Psalm 72:17

His name will endure forever. His name will continue as long as the sun shines. May all nations be blessed through him and call him blessed.

Psalm 72:18

Blessed be Jehovah God, the God of Israel, who alone does miracles.

Psalm 72:19

Blessed be to his glorious name forever. May the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and amen!
