that the exulting of the wicked is short, and the joy of the ungodly is for a moment? Though his honor mounts up to the heavens, and his head reaches to the clouds, he shall perish forever like his dung; they who see him shall say, Where is he? read more.
He flies away like a dream, and shall not be found, and shall be chased away like a vision of the night.

How have they been brought into grief, as in a moment! They are fully eaten up with terrors, like a dream when one awakens; so, O Jehovah, when You awake, You shall despise their image.

A Psalm of David. Do not fret yourself with evil doers; and do not be envious against the workers of iniquity.

until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I understood their end. Surely You set them in slippery places; You cast them down into ruin. How have they been brought into grief, as in a moment! They are fully eaten up with terrors, read more.

A dreadful sound of things is in his ears; the destroyer shall come to him in peace.

And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, before it was chewed, the wrath of Jehovah was kindled against the people, and Jehovah struck the people with a very great plague.

Surely You set them in slippery places; You cast them down into ruin. How have they been brought into grief, as in a moment! They are fully eaten up with terrors, like a dream when one awakens; so, O Jehovah, when You awake, You shall despise their image.

And I will take from them the voice of rejoicing and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones and the light of the candle. And this whole land shall be a ruin and a waste. And these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

like a dream when one awakens; so, O Jehovah, when You awake, You shall despise their image.

A Psalm of David. Do not fret yourself with evil doers; and do not be envious against the workers of iniquity.

The tents of robbers are at peace, and those who provoke God are secure, in whatever God brings to their hand.

A dreadful sound of things is in his ears; the destroyer shall come to him in peace.

that the exulting of the wicked is short, and the joy of the ungodly is for a moment?

Though a sinner does evil a hundred times, and his days be made longer, yet surely I know that it shall be well with those who fear God, who fear before Him. But it shall not be well with the wicked, nor shall he make his days longer like a shadow; because he does not fear before God.

I have seen the wicked ruthless, and spreading himself like a luxuriant native tree. Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not; and I looked for him, but he could not be found.

Why do You show me evil, and You look on toil? For destruction and violence are before me; and there is strife, and contention rises up. Therefore the law has become helpless, and justice does not always go forth. For the wicked entraps the righteous; therefore justice goes forth, being perverted.

I have seen the fool taking root, but suddenly I cursed his dwelling place. His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, nor is there any to deliver them. Their harvest the hungry eats, and takes it even out of the thorns; and the snare swallows up their wealth.

He wanders for bread, saying, Where is it? He knows that the day of darkness is ready at hand.

because he has covered his face with fat; he has put fat on his loins.

He shall not be rich, nor shall his wealth hold out, nor shall he stretch out his gain on the earth.

In the fullness of his plenty he shall be in trouble; every wretched one shall come on him.

Why do the wicked live? They grow old and become mighty in power. Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes. Their houses are in peace, without fear; nor is the rod of God on them. read more.
Their bull mates and does not fail; their cow calves, and does not cast her calf. They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance. They lift up voice at the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the flute. They spend their days in good, and in a moment go down to the grave.

For he sees wise men die; likewise the fool and the animal-like ones perish, and leave their wealth to others. Their inward thought is that their houses shall go on forever, and their dwelling-places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names. But man, though high in honor, does not remain; he is like the animals that perish. read more.
This way of theirs is their foolishness; yet their followers delight in their sayings. Selah. Like sheep they are appointed to the grave; death shall reign for them; and the upright shall have the rule over them in the morning; and their form is for rotting; the grave is their home. But God will redeem my soul from the hand of the grave; for He will take me. Selah.

For I was jealous of the proud, when I saw the peace of the wicked. For there are no bands in their death; but their strength is fat. They are not in trouble like other men; neither are they plagued like other men. read more.
Therefore pride enchains them; violence covers them like a robe. Their eyes stand out with fatness; they have more than the heart could imagine. They scoff and speak in malice of cruelty; from on high they speak. They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walks through the earth. Therefore His people return here, and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them. And they say, How does God know? And is there knowledge in the Most High? Behold, these are the ungodly, who are at ease in the world; they increase in riches. Surely I have made my heart pure in vain, and washed my hands in innocence. For all the day long I have been plagued, and chastened every morning. If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I would deceive a generation of Your sons. When I thought deeply in order to understand this, it was painful for me, until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I understood their end. Surely You set them in slippery places; You cast them down into ruin. How have they been brought into grief, as in a moment! They are fully eaten up with terrors, like a dream when one awakens; so, O Jehovah, when You awake, You shall despise their image. For my heart was grieved and I was pricked in my reins. So foolish was I, and I did not know; I was like a beast before You.

A beastly man does not know; nor does a fool understand this. When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity blossom, it is that they shall be destroyed forever;

Righteous are You, O Jehovah, that I might contend with You; yet let me speak with You about Your judgments. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are all those happy who deal treacherously? You have planted them; yea, they take root. They grow, yea, they make fruit. You are near in their mouth and far from their reins.

You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, and can not look upon vexation. Why do You look upon those who deal deceitfully? Will you be silent when the wicked swallows one more righteous than he? For You make man like the fish of the sea, like creeping things with no ruler over them. He takes up all of them with the hook; he drags him with his net and gathers him with his seine; therefore he rejoices and exults. read more.
So he sacrifices to his net and burns incense to his seine; because by them his portion is fat and his food rich. Shall he then empty his net, and shall he not spare to continually slay nations?
