Your corpses will be food for all the birds of the sky and the wild animals of the land, with no one to scare them away.
They will die from deadly diseases. They will not be mourned or buried but will be like manure on the face of the earth. They will be finished off by sword and famine. Their corpses will become food for the birds of the sky and for the wild animals of the land.
A man may father a hundred children and live many years. No matter how long he lives, if he is not satisfied by good things and does not even have a proper burial, I say that a stillborn child is better off than he.

the flesh of Your godly ones
to the beasts of the earth.

God, the nations have invaded Your inheritance, desecrated Your holy temple, and turned Jerusalem into ruins. We have become an object of reproach to our neighbors, a source of mockery and ridicule to those around us. How long, Lord? Will You be angry forever? Will Your jealousy keep burning like fire? Pour out Your wrath on the nations that don't acknowledge You, on the kingdoms that don't call on Your name, for they have devoured Jacob and devastated his homeland.
