And it happened [that] afterward, the {Moabites}, the {Ammonites}, and some of the Meunites came against Jehoshaphat for war.

"I [am] Yahweh, your God, who brought you out from the land of Egypt, from the house of slaves. "There shall be for you no other gods before me. "You shall not make for yourself a divine image [with] any form that [is] in the heavens above or that [is] in the earth below or that [is] in the water below the earth. read more.
You will not bow down to them, and you will not serve them, because I [am] Yahweh your God, a jealous God, punishing [the] guilt of [the] parents on the children on [the] third and on [the] fourth [generations] of those hating me,

'I [am] Yahweh your God, who brought you out from the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery. [There] shall not be for you other gods {besides me}. 'You shall not make for yourself a divine image of any [type] of form that [is] in the heaven above or that [is] on the earth beneath or that [is] in the water under the earth. read more.
'You shall not bow down to them, and you shall not serve them, for I, Yahweh your God, [am] a jealous God, punishing the guilt of fathers upon [their] children and upon [the] third and upon [the] fourth generation of [those] hating me,

And after these [things], the Lord also appointed seventy-two others and sent them out two by two before {him} into every town and place where he was about to go. And he said to them, "The harvest [is] plentiful, but the workers [are] few. Therefore ask the Lord of the harvest that he send out workers into his harvest. Go! Behold, I am sending you out like lambs in the midst of wolves! read more.
Do not carry a money bag or a traveler's bag or sandals, and greet no one along the road. And into whatever house you enter, first say, "Peace [be] to this household!" And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on him. But if not, it will return to you. And remain in the same house, eating and drinking {whatever they provide}, for the worker [is] worthy of his pay. Do not move from house to house. And into whatever town you enter and they welcome you, eat {whatever is} set before you, and heal the sick in it, and say to them, "The kingdom of God has come near to you." But into whatever town you enter and they do not welcome you, go out into its streets [and] say, "Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet we wipe off against you! Nevertheless know this: that the kingdom of God has come near!" I tell you that it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town! Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes! But it will be more bearable for Tyre and for Sidon in the judgment than for you! And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? No! You will be brought down to Hades! The one who listens to you listens to me, and the one who rejects you rejects me. But the one who rejects me rejects the one who sent me."

[So] know that Yahweh your God, he [is] God, the trustworthy God, maintaining his covenant and his loyal love with those who love him and with those who keep his commandments to a thousand generations, but repaying those who hate him {in their own person} to destroy them; he is not slow with those who hate him {in their own person}; he repays them.

For Yahweh will judge [on behalf of] his people, and concerning his servants; he will change his mind when he sees that [their] power has disappeared, and [there is] no one left, confined or free. And he will say, 'Where [are] their gods, [their] rock in whom they took refuge? Who ate the fat of their sacrifices [and] drank the wine of their libations? Let them rise [up], and let them help you; {Let them be to you a refuge}. read more.
See, now, that I, [even] I [am] he, and there is not a god besides me; I put to death and I give life; I wound and I heal; there is not [one] who delivers from my hand! For [indeed] I lift up my hand to heaven, And I promise {as I live forever}, When I sharpen {my flashing sword}, and my hand takes hold [of it] in judgment, {I will take reprisals against my foes}, and my haters I will repay.

"Look, God will not reject [the] blameless, and he will not uphold the hand of evildoers. Yet he will fill your mouth [with] laughter and your lips [with] a shout of joy. [Those] who hate you will be clothed with shame, and the tent of the wicked {will be no more}."

Because the king trusts Yahweh, and through the steadfast love of the Most High he shall not be moved. Your hand will find all your enemies; your right hand will find those who hate you. You will make them like your fiery furnace at the time of your appearance. Yahweh will swallow them in his wrath and fire will consume them. read more.
You will destroy their {offspring} from [the] earth, and their {descendants} from among [the] children of humankind. Though they have {plotted} evil against you, [though] they have planned a scheme, they will not prevail. For you will {turn them to flight}; you will aim [arrows] on your bowstrings at their faces.

O God, do not rest [silently]. Do not keep silent or be still, O God. For look, your enemies roar, and those who hate you have lifted [their] head. They devise cunning schemes against your people, and consult together against your protected ones. read more.
They say, "Come, let us annihilate them from [being] a nation, so that the name of Israel will be remembered no more." For they have consulted together {with a unified purpose}. They have made a covenant against you: the tents of Edom and [the] Ishmaelites, Moab and [the] Hagrites, Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, Philistia, with the inhabitants of Tyre. Assyria also has joined with them. They {provide help} to the children of Lot. Selah Do to them as [you did with] Midian, as [with] Sisera, as [with] Jabin at the wadi of Kishon. They were destroyed at En-dor; they became dung for the ground. Make their leaders like Oreb and Zeeb, and all their chiefs like Zebah and Zalmunna, who said, "Let us take [as] our possession the pastures of God." O my God, make them like the tumbleweed, like the chaff before wind. As fire burns a forest, and as a flame sets afire mountains, so pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your storm. Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek your name, O Yahweh. Let them be ashamed and terrified forever, and let them be humiliated and perish

"I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch that does not bear fruit in me, he removes it, and every [branch] that bears fruit, he prunes it in order that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. read more.
Remain in me, and I in you. Just as the branch is not able to bear fruit from itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither [can] you, unless you remain in me. "I am the vine; you [are] the branches. The one who remains in me and I in him--this one bears much fruit, for apart from me you are not able to do anything. If anyone does not remain in me, he is thrown out as a branch, and dries up, and they gather them and throw [them] into the fire, and they are burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want and it will be done for you. My Father is glorified by this: that you bear much fruit, and prove to be my disciples. "Just as the Father has loved me, I also have loved you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and remain in his love. I have spoken these [things] to you in order that my joy may be in you, and your joy may be made complete. This is my commandment: that you love one another just as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this: that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you slaves, because the slave does not know what his master is doing. But I have called you friends, because everything that I have heard from my Father I have revealed to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and your fruit should remain, in order that whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you. These [things] I command you: that you love one another. If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before [it hated] you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, for this [reason] the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you: 'A slave is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will keep yours also. But they will do all these [things] to you on account of my name, because they do not know the one who sent me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin. But now they do not have a valid excuse for their sin. The one who hates me hates my Father also. If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would not have sin. But now they have both seen and hated both me and my Father. But [this happened] so that the word that is written in their law would be fulfilled, 'They hated me without a reason.'

Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, Philistia, with the inhabitants of Tyre.

So Yahweh strengthened {the adversaries of Rezin} against him, and he provoked his enemies-- Aram from [the] east and Philistines from [the] west-- and they devoured Israel with the whole mouth. He has not turned away his anger in all of this, and his hand is still stretched out.

Thus says Yahweh: "For three transgressions of Tyre and for four I will not revoke [the punishment], because they delivered up a whole community to Edom and they did not remember the covenant of brotherhood!

Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, Philistia, with the inhabitants of Tyre.

"Son of man, because Tyre said concerning Jerusalem, 'Ah! The gates of the peoples are broken; it has swung [open] to me; I shall be filled, [for] it lies in ruins!'
