For he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he walketh upon a snare.

The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid is their own foot taken.


And the children of Israel, who had returned from captivity, and all such as had separated themselves to them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek the LORD God of Israel, did eat,

But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and even made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel.

But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them.

Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.

The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.


They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have digged a pit before me, into the midst of which they have fallen themselves. Selah.

Thou hast brought us into the net; thou hast laid affliction upon our loins.

The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.

For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them.

The fishers also shall mourn, and all they that cast angle into the brooks shall lament, and they that spread nets upon the waters shall languish.

And I find more bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands as bands: whoever pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be taken by her.

And it shall come to pass, that the fishers shall stand upon it from En-gedi even to En-eglaim; they shall be a place to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, very numerous.

My eyes are ever towards the LORD; for he will pluck my feet out of the net.

The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the way side: they have set gins for me. Selah.

He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net.

When they shall go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the fowls of the heaven; I will chastise them, as their congregation hath heard.

Know now that God hath overthrown me, and hath encompassed me with his net.


For without cause they have hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul. Let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall.


It shall be a place for the spreading of nets in the midst of the sea: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD: and it shall become a spoil to the nations.

And I will make thee like the top of a rock: thou shalt be a place to spread nets upon; thou shalt be built no more: for I the LORD have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.


Whoever causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.

He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoever breaketh a hedge, a serpent shall bite him.

Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.

In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.

And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be insnared, and be taken.
