{A Psalm of David.} Fret not thyself because of evil-doers, and be not envious of them that work unrighteousness;



Let us not become vain-glorious, provoking one another, envying one another.

Envy not the man of violence, and choose none of his ways.


Let not thy heart envy sinners, but be thou in the fear of Jehovah all the day;


but if ye have bitter emulation and strife in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.

For the grace of God which carries with it salvation for all men has appeared, teaching us that, having denied impiety and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, and justly, and piously in the present course of things,

But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that ye should be written to, for ye know perfectly well yourselves, that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief by night. When they may say, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon her that is with child; and they shall in no wise escape. read more.
But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day should overtake you as a thief: for all ye are sons of light and sons of day; we are not of night nor of darkness. So then do not let us sleep as the rest do, but let us watch and be sober; for they that sleep sleep by night, and they that drink drink by night; but we being of the day, let us be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as helmet the hope of salvation;




Go not forth hastily to strive, lest thou know not what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame. Debate thy cause with thy neighbour, but reveal not the secret of another; lest he that heareth it disgrace thee, and thine evil report turn not away.



Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.
