Thematic Bible: The Lord as a Shadow
Thematic Bible
The Lord as a Shadow » Shelters God's people » In time of trouble
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High, Under the shadow of the Almighty, will tarry,
SHEAs an apple-tree among the trees of the forest, So, is my beloved, among the sons: In his shade, I greatly delighted and sat down, And, his fruit, was sweet to my taste.
Show me favour, O God, Show me favour, For, in thee, hath my soul sought refuge, - And, in the shadow of thy wings, will I seek refuge, Until the storm of ruin pass by.
For thou hast become a help unto me, - And, in the shadow of thy wings, will I shout for joy.
Yahweh, is thy keeper, Yahweh, is thy shade, on thy right hand:
The Lord as a Shadow » Shelters God's people » In the rock of ages
As, an eagle, stirreth up his nest, Over his young ones, fluttereth, Spreadeth abroad his wings, taketh one, Beareth it up on his pinions,
And it shall be while my glory passeth by, I will put thee in the cleft of the rock, - and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:
The Lord as a Shadow » Shelters God's people » A refuge from the storm
For thou didst become A refuge to the weak. A refuge to the needy, when distress was upon him, - A shelter from the storm. A shade from the heat, When the blast of tyrants was like a storm against a wall.
So shall each one become As a hiding-place from the wind And a covert from the storm, - As channels of water ill a dry place, As the shadow of a massive cliff in a weary land.
The Lord as a Shadow » Shelters God's people » Under the shadow of his wings
Jerusalem! Jerusalem! that slayeth the prophets, and stoneth them that have been sent unto her, - how often, would I have gathered thy children, like as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, - and ye would not!
The Lord as a Shadow » Shelters God's people » In the shadow of his hand
Therefore have I put my words in thy mouth, And with the shadow of my hand, have I covered thee, - To plant the heavens, and To lay the foundations of the earth, and To say unto Zion My people, thou art!
