For she did not recognize that I gave her the wheat and the wine and the oil and multiplied unto them the silver and the gold, with which they made Baal. For he said, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I have been prudent: and I have removed the boundaries of the peoples, and have robbed their treasures, and I have cast down as valiant ones those who were seated: And my hand has found as a nest the riches of the peoples: and as one gathers eggs that are left, I have taken control over all the earth; and there was no one that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped. Shall the axe boast itself against him that hews with it? or shall the saw magnify itself against him that moves it? as if the rod should rise up against those that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift itself up. Therefore shall the Lord, the LORD of the hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire. And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day;

by the greatness of thy wisdom in thy trafficking thou hast multiplied thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches: therefore thus hath the Lord GOD said: Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God, behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the strong ones of the Gentiles, and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness. They shall bring thee down to the pit, and thou shalt die of the death of those that are slain in the midst of the seas. Wilt thou yet say before him that slays thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and not God, in the hand of him that slays thee. Thou shalt die the death of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken, said the Lord GOD.

At the end of twelve months as he was walking upon the palace of the kingdom of Babylon, the king spoke and said, Is this not the great Babylon that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power and for the glory of my greatness? The word was yet in the king's mouth when there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O King Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee;




Who gives food to all flesh: for his mercy endures for ever.

These wait all upon thee, that thou may give them their food in due season.


I shall meditate that I might understand this; it is very hard for me to see.



Thy way was in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps were not known.



But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel,

Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves that ye sold me here, for God sent me before you for life. For these two years the famine has been in the land, and yet there are five years in which there shall neither be plowing nor harvest. And God sent me before you that you might remain in the earth and that you might be given life by great liberty.







for I came, and no one showed himself; I called, and no one answered. Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stink because there is no water and die for thirst.

And they are turned round about by his counsels; that they may do whatever he commands them upon the face of the world in the earth. On some occasions for correction, on others for his land, on others for mercy he causes them to appear.


Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? And one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not, therefore; ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Provide neither gold nor silver nor money in your girdles,



And the cows went straight down the way of Bethshemesh and went along the highway, lowing as they went and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left, and the cardinals of the Philistines went after them unto the border of Bethshemesh.

And the men did so and took two milk cows and tied them to the cart and shut up their calves at home.


For the LORD had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them, except Caleb, the son of Jephunneh and Joshua, the son of Nun.

There failed not a word of all the good things which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all of it came to pass.

Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away until all is fulfilled. The heaven and the earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.


For the LORD loves uprightness and does not forsake his merciful ones; they are preserved for ever, but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.

The mountains were exposed; they descended through the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them. Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over, that they not turn again to cover the earth.




But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God, for it is he that gives thee the power to get wealth that he may confirm his covenant which he swore unto thy fathers, as it is this day.




Behold, thou hast made my days as a handbreadth, and my age is as nothing before thee; verily every man that lives is altogether vanity. Selah.


And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me and will keep me in this way that I go and will give me bread to eat and clothing to put on so that I come again to my father's house in peace, then shall the LORD be my God;

So the king died and was brought to Samaria, and they buried the king in Samaria. And they washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria, and they also washed his armour; ; and the dogs licked up his blood, according unto the word of the LORD which he had spoken.


And I bowed down my head and worshipped the LORD and blessed the LORD God of my master Abraham, who had led me in the way of the truth to take my master's brother's daughter unto his son.

And he said unto them, Hinder me not, seeing the LORD has prospered my way; send me away that I may go to my master.


O Assyrian, rod and staff of my anger, in thy hand have I placed my indignation. I will send him against a hypocritical nation, and upon the people of my wrath will I send him to take spoil and to take prey and to ready them that they might be tread down like the mire of the streets. Howbeit he shall not think like this; not even in his heart shall he imagine this way of doing things, but his thought shall be to destroy and cut off nations not a few. read more.
For he shall say, Are not my princes altogether kings? Is not Calno as Carchemish? Is not Hamath as Arpad? Is not Samaria as Damascus? As my hand has found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel those of Jerusalem and of Samaria; shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols? Therefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord has performed his whole work upon Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will come upon the fruit of the pride of the heart of the king of Assyria, and upon the glory of his high looks.

And now, brethren, I know that through ignorance ye did it as did also your princes. But God has thus fulfilled those things which he had showed in advance by the mouth of all his prophets, that his Christ should suffer.


But a certain man, shooting his bow in perfection, smote the king of Israel between the joints of his coat of mail; therefore, he said unto the driver of his chariot, Turn thy hand and carry me out of the host, for I am wounded.

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself and enter into the battle, but put thou on thy robes. And the king of Israel disguised himself and went into the battle.


Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and build up and glorify the King of heaven because all his works are truth, and his ways judgment: and he is able to humble those that walk with arrogance.

Tzaddi The LORD is righteous in all his ways and merciful in all his works.



even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.



Behold, he that keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.


Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler and from the mortal pestilence.

As birds flying, so will the LORD of the hosts defend Jerusalem; defending, delivering, passing over, and saving it.



O GOD the Lord, the strength of my saving health, cover thou my head in the day of battle.

The LORD makes poor and makes rich; he brings low and lifts up. He raises up the poor out of the dust and lifts up the beggar from the dunghill to set them among princes and to make them inherit the throne of glory. For the pillars of the earth are the LORD's, and he has set the world upon them.






And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him because the soul of all the people was bitter, each one for his sons and for his daughters; but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.


Unless the LORD builds the house, they labour in vain that build it; unless the LORD keeps the city, the watchmen watch in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to come home late, to eat the bread of sorrows, because he shall give his beloved sleep.


O LORD, thou hast searched me and known me. Thou knowest my sitting down and my rising up, thou dost understand my thoughts from afar. Thou hast girded my walk and my rest, and hast prepared all my ways. read more.
For the word is not even upon my tongue, and, behold, O LORD, thou dost know it altogether. Thou hast formed my face and my insides and laid thine hand upon me.


The Spirit of the LORD pastored them as a beast that goes down into the valley; so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name.






Teth The LORD is good to all; and his tender mercies shine over all his works.


And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse and provision bag and shoes, lacked ye anything? And they said, Nothing.




Shall the shofar be blown in the city and the people not be afraid? Shall there be any evil in the city which the LORD has not done?
